Ren's Diary
You could still see the tear trails on her cheeks as we left the stream but she chattered on, asking me questions about the fairy kingdom. She held the rock I gave her, as I had only days before, clutched in both hands against her chest. By the time we reached the edge of the grove Kyouko looked as if she might start crying again.
"Remember the magic in that stone Kyouko," I whispered. She immediately straightened up like a soldier standing at attention.
"I will, I promise! And I'll never forget you Korn-kun!" She declared, brightly smiling. I remember wanting to hug her then, she beat me to it. I froze, the girl who was always so formal, so proper and well mannered for her age, just hugged me as if we were lifelong friends. I relaxed. When she let go she began skipping off back towards the inn where she lived while her mother was away. She waved at me one last time before continuing on to where her precious 'Shou' resided. I wondered if he knew how horribly the other kids at school treated her. I wondered if she even realized it wasn't right.
Walking back through the woods toward home, I could see the movers loading my things into a van. My father had a chance to become an international superstar, and he wasn't going to pass that up no matter what that meant for me. As for my mother, she was happy to make the move, anything that was good for my father made her happy.
"Kuon, where've you been?" my father demanded as I approached.
"I just went for a walk, dad. It's my last day in Japan, I just wanted to take it all in." I explained. He patted me on the head and sighed.
"Well, take another look around and hop in the car, we need to get to the airport soon." Kuu joined my mom in the car and waved me over.
