Loren placed the cap of nude lipstick onto the tube and lightly tapped the top causing the lipstick to snap shut. Then, turning around she came face to face with a full body mirror. Turning this way and that way she took in the little deep purple dress that she wore. The long sleeved attire hugged the upper half of her body perfectly. The V neckline offered a generous amount of cleavage without making her seem loose or tasteless. The skirt of the dress fell at around mid thigh and when paired with her deep purple pumps, her legs seemed to go on far days.
Pleased with her appearance, Loren existed her bathroom and into her bedroom just in time to hear the knock at her door.
" Come in" she hollered out, tossing her lipstick and phone into a matching clutch.
Then, seconds later, the door was pushed open to reveal a tall, sandy haired guy . Standing in the at the foot of her bed, Loren took a moment to take in his fit. He wore a dark blue dress shirt, with the first two buttons of the shirt undone and his sleeves rolled up to his elbows. His shirt was tucked into a pair of black slacks that ended perfectly above his black dress shoes.
" You look good Ryan" she stated after looking him from head to toe and then back up again.
" But like a peasant compared to you" he laughed taking her in.
" Why thank you big brother" she smiled, turning back to her mirror to get one last look again herself.
" You nervous?" He asked as he crossed his arms over his chest as he leaned against the doorway.
Loren paused for a moment and thought about Ryan's question. Was she nervous? At that particular moment, no, she wasn't. But what about when she got to the church? After all she was crashing her mother's wedding. Yes her father was invited and through inviting Trent and his whole family, Nora had also invited Loren, right? Well that's how Trent worded it when he'd came home a couple of weeks ago and announce to the family that Nora and Max were tying the knot. But Loren hadn't spoken to her mother in months. The last time they spoke Nora had invited Loren over for Christmas and Loren lied about a factitious trip to Europe. She couldn't go back to California, cause going back ment seeing Eddie and seeing Eddie met remembering... No, she didn't want to think about that right now. Shaking her head, she turned her attention back to her older step brother and answered his questions.
" Like you wouldn't fucking believe" she admitted, a flicker of fear flashing in her eyes.
Not saying another word, Ryan walked over to Loren, pulled her into a hug. Then, after resting her head on his chest, she wrapped her arms his waist and closed her eyes.
" Everything will be fine" he whispered to her, rubbing her back gently.
For a moment she didn't say anything. She simply held him tightly, rocking them from side to side.
" I sure hope so big brother" she whispered back.
The two then parted and existed Loren's bedroom just in time to their twin siblings Nathan and Natalie. Riding on her brother's back, Natalie caught him up with the events that had taken place at school on last day of school while Nate made his way down the hall. Nate had chosen not to go to school since he'd finished all his final exams and wasn't actually required to attend the last day.
" Aww, look at you two. You're the cutest twins I've seen" Loren cooed as she watched them walk towards her and Ryan.
Nathan stopped in his tracks and looked his older sister in the eyes before narrowing his own.
" Tell that to mom. The only time she thinks we look cute is when we match" He scuffed, shaking his head.
Loren and Ryan shared a laugh before Trent came walking down the hall and towards the children.
" Oi! Thing one and thing two, finish getting ready so we can go. You're mother wants to obsess over Nora one last time before she walks down the aisle." Trent shouted, pushing the twins in the direction of their rooms.
Then, while Nathan and Natalie were off finishing getting ready, Ryan head downstairs leaving the father and daughter alone.
" Today's the big day" Trent began, rubbing his daughter's arm.
" You're finally gonna see your mom after a two and a half long years" He announced, rocking back and forth on his heels.
" Three actually" Loren corrected, tucking a few strands of hair behind her ear.
Trent frowed for a moment before cocking his head to the side as if to see her in a different light.
" Really? I could've sworn it's only been two" He comment, crossing his arms over his chest.
" Nope. Yesterday was the anniversary of..." She trailed off.
The ending of that sentence didn't need to be spoken out loud. Trent already knew the importance of yesterday.
" Oh. I usually count from the day you and Eddie broke up" Trent informed her.
A moment of silence began to rise between them, when a question from Trent pushed it back down.
" Have you talked to-"
" Nope" She answered quickly, not wanting to get into it with her father.
Trent stood there in the middle of Loren's room wracking his mind for something else to say however, before he could come to the conclusion that he had nothing left to say, his wife Ashley arrived at the top of the stairs and began making her way towards the two.
" Hey guys, I'm aabout to start on breakfast. Do you guys want pancakes or waffles, or are you guys just gonna make your own things?" She asked, looking between the father and daughter.
" I want four pancakes" Trent replied.
" Really, two that's all you want?" Ashley asked, surprised by her husband's lack of appetite.
" Well yeah, cause there's gonna be a buffet at the wedding reception" He explained, referring to the event they were going to.
" Good point. And what about you Miss Tate" Ashley asked, turning to her stepdaughter.
" Two sounds good to me" Loren smiled.
Nodding, Ashley continued down the hall to get the twins and Ryan's request. Two and a half hours later, the McCall family piled into the family minivan. Then, after making sure they had everything they needed, Trent started up the vam and pulled out of the garage. As he pulled out of the driveway, he tapped the remote connected to his visor, causing the garage door to close. Then, after backing out of the driveway, the McCalls headed off to Max and Nora's wedding
