Prentiss leaned back. She could get used to flying in a private jet. She grinned.
Well, my first case at work was a success, she thought. Agent Gideon did a fabulous job at Guantanamo, and Agent Reid and I did quite a nice job, if I do say so myself. She mentally patted herself on the back.
Agent Reid sure is something else, she thought. Introverted, but intelligent. He's got potential. I'd like to get to know him. And what better place to get to know him than on this private jet?
She got up and lost her balance. She'd have to get used to walking on a plane. She thought she'd learn to deal with a little turbulence here and there. She walked over to where Agent Reid was sitting and slid into the seat across from him. "Hi."
He looked up. "Hi…"
"Sorry to bother you. I just wanted to talk. You know, get to know you a little."
Reid was puzzled. Emily seemed… a little different. She clearly wanted to feel needed and be involved. But he supposed it was just because this was her first case. "All right. What do you want to know?"
"I don't know," she shrugged. "What's an interesting thing about you?"
"I have an IQ of 187," he casually said. To him, that was nothing exciting. But to everyone else, it made him interesting. Kind of like an exhibit at a freak show.
"Wow," she marveled. "A certifiable genius. Fancy that." He nodded. She sounded genuine. Not like she was going to ask him about "really smart stuff," but like she was actually interesting in him as a person. That was a new concept to him.
She could tell he wasn't one for casual conversation. He was… a little different. He was awkward, but not so much that he isolated. It was just enough to make her smile, and enough to make her think that there was more to this kid than just his genius status. "Anyway, I think I'm going to get some sleep. But, thanks for talking to me. See you in the morning, Agent Reid."
"Mm-hmm," he nodded.
She looked back at him. He was definitely a little different. She was going to have fun getting to know him.
