A cry tore through the night as a baby was cradled in its mother's arm. The mother brought the baby closer to her chest as she ran. Her cloak clung to her figure, trying to hide the pair from view. The mother started to hum to calm the baby down as she hurried forward. She eventually came into contact with the spirit she was racing towards.

Cassiopeia looked very unlike herself. Sweat was running down her face, and her raven locks were sticking to her forehead. Her outfit couldn't be seen under the enormous dark cloak she was wearing. She pants as the baby in her arms lets out a small giggle at the sight of the person in front of him. His tiny little hands reach outwards to grab the spirits flowing purple hair. "Thanks for agreeing to do this for me, Auriga," Cassiopeia thanked.

Auriga nodded. Cassiopeia passes her child over to Auriga. The little baby boy is laid carefully in the crook of Auriga's arm. The baby grabs a few locks of her shiny purple hair, pulling it closer to his face and giggling as it rubs against his face. "What is his name?" Auriga asks, while her fingerless gloved hand brushes the baby's raven locks out of his face and glowing toxic green eyes. Cassiopeia smiles as she stares from her child to her friend.

"I was thinking Epsilon Aurigae," Cassiopeia informs her friend. A blush rushes up Auriga's cheeks reaching the very edge of the purple bandage that covers her eyes. The baby, Epsilon Aurigae, stares over at his mother and then lets out a small sneeze. The baby's hair flashes into a snow-white color, and the baby cries. His hair turns back to black, but the crying does not cease.

Auriga rocks the baby, and he calms down. "I should leave soon," Auriga informs Cassiopeia. Tears fall from Cassiopeia's eyes, but she nods. She presses a gentle kiss against her baby's head. Then Cassiopeia turns and runs with tears blurring her vision. "Your mother loves you very much young Epsilon," Auriga whispers to the baby in a caring tone.

Auriga summons herself to the human world, with her grip secured on the bundle in her arms. When she reaches the human world, she is already within her key owner's house. She strolls up the purple stairs, and into the guest bedroom. She places little Epsilon on the large bed and gives him a small present. Then, before she leaves, she puts a short note on a dresser.

When Auriga leaves the baby lets out a wail, and soon three figures appear in the room. A large bulky man dressed all in orange barges in first with a weird looking gun. Following him is a petite woman dressed all in teal with a key in her hand. Finally, behind her is a small girl in a teal dress with black ghost designs and orange bows that match her hair.

Epsilon continues to wail and starts to tangle himself in the blanket that was beneath him. "Oh, my," The celestial spirit mage utters as she races forward to help the small baby. Maddie picks the baby up and starts to rock it. The baby lets out a final sad cry before falling asleep in the mage's arms. The man, Jack Fenton, is looking over the note that was left on the dresser with a frown.

"Maddie, take a look at this," Jack states. Maddie hums and hands the baby off to Jack. Epsilon turns in towards the giant man and his tiny hands grasp at the orange material in front of him. A smile makes its way onto the sleeping babies mouth, and Jack's chest rumbles in silent laughter. The little girl is looking up at the baby with wide aqua eyes.

"Can I name my new baby bwothah? Can I? Can I!" Jazz asked. Jack Fenton's eyes landed on his princess, and he succumbed to her puppy dog eyes. He nods, and Jazz jumps in glee. "Daniel, I want his name to be Daniel!" Jazz shouts. Maddie places down the paper she had been reading and looked over to her family with a small smile.

"Very well, Daniel Fenton will be your younger brother now. So, you are going to have to be nice and take care of him. He's younger than you, so he's going to need a lot of help and attention," Maddie informs her child. Jazz nods her head in excitement. Maddie sighs and looks at her keys. This child was going to have such a difficult future.

"Come on Danny, hurry up!" Jazz shouted as she stood by his door. Danny looked at his sister with tired toxic green. He dragged his feet as he followed her down the stairs with a yawn. "I can't believe you! Aren't you excited? It's our first time seeing a spirit today!" Jazz exclaimed as she jumped about the kitchen.

Danny grabbed an apple off the table and then followed his sister into the basement. "Good morning kids!" Maddie greets while polishing her keys. Danny shivers like he always has around his mother's keys. "I want to go over the differences between mages and spirits before we begin," Maddie informed her children.

"Ooh! Mages rely on their own magic while spirits rely on their owner's magic. Plus, spirits live forever as long as they don't stay in our world for too long," Jazz spits out the facts. Maddie nods and looks over at her son with worry.

Danny looks at his mom shyly before rubbing the back of his neck. "Spirits are bound by a contract that they make with their owner that only breaks with death or imprisonment. Spirits that break the rules are no longer allowed in the spirit world," Danny added. Maddie looked at her son with a small smile, but the worry is still plastered on her face. She nods and then picks up a key.

"I will be beginning with one of the easiest spirits to summon. Gate of the Canis Minor, I open thee! Nikora!" Maddie shouts. Danny jumps as a small wisp of blue air leaves his mouth. The light coming from the key dies down and there in front of them is a little teal spirit with what looked like a carrot nose. Danny stared at the spirit with wonder. He didn't understand why it had caused him to see his breath, but the spirit seemed friendly enough. Danny smiled at the shivering spirit.

"It's so cute!" Jazz exclaimed as she reached over to pet the spirit. It made a noise but allowed the ten-year-old to have her way. Danny wondered if the spirit liked leaving its world to see his mom. Danny wasn't sure if he would mind, but then again it was his mom. Maddie started telling them about the Nikora and how to summon him. Danny stopped paying attention, as he couldn't summon any spirit.

Jazz and Maddie could feel the hum of energy come from a key, and could then push their magic out into the key to summon. That was how Danny understood it, and he couldn't do that. He would get cold, and the feel of a key in his hands felt so sickeningly wrong. Although, there was one key that comforted him. His mom had a silver key with a chariot on it that always felt warm to is touch. Danny fiddled with the chain bracelet on his wrist that was tied together by a purple cloth.

Danny's eyes went over to the giant hole in the wall. It was going to be a portal to the spirit world, but his parents wouldn't tell him why they were making it. Danny let out a cough, and everyone's eyes fell on him. His legs felt shaky beneath him, but the room wasn't spinning yet. "Jack!" Maddie shouted, and Danny could hear his dad make his way across the kitchen above them and to the stairs.

Danny got coughing spells, dizzy spells, and fainting spells a lot. He really hoped that wasn't his magic. He didn't use to get them. It actually didn't start until he was three, and then it just kept getting worse. Now he is seven, and his parents seem to be getting really worried. They sent him to healers, but they never found anything wrong with him. Some suggested that he didn't have enough magic in him, but Danny didn't believe that.

He could do spells, not very fun spells, but spells none the less, so that meant he was a mage! His mom was a mage, and his dad was a mage, so clearly he was a mage. Danny frowned, before feeling his dad pick him up. Danny let out a small yawn, as he felt his dad's warmth surround him. Danny clutched onto the orange material of his dad's outfit and fell asleep to the rumble of his dad's laughter.

Danny crept down the stairs on wobbly legs. He hasn't been out of bed for a month, as he had a terrible fever. His mom and dad seemed extremely worried. Jazz spent hours in his room, reading books about the stars and moon to him. The whole family moved around Danny carefully, as if unsure if their next move would cause him to pass out.

So, that was why Jazz's excitement had peaked Danny's curiosity. She had been bouncing on the seat, as she read. He hadn't seen his mom all day and dad had been humming as he gave him his food. Danny was sure that all of the clues had to add up to the portal being finished. Danny made sure to wait until the big dipper was at more than a forty-five-degree angle from the north star, before leaving his room. Danny crept throughout the house, with a hand constantly on some surface to steady him.

Eventually, Danny made it to the basement. He smiled as let out a small cough. His vision was blurry, but Danny didn't care. He was so excited to see his parents greatest work. His eyes locked on the hole in the wall. It was silver, with gold and blue glowing lines running about it. Danny's feet moved against the cold ground, as his breath left him in quiet wheezes. His hand touched the edge of the portal. Danny couldn't wait to see the spirit world. Danny smiled as he steps into the hole.

It was dark inside, but the hazy glow of blue and gold gave him enough courage to keep moving forward. His hand slid against the cold metal wall, and his eyes wandered about. Then a cough rattled his body and his vision darkened. Danny felt his knees caving in. He slid forward, his hand hitting something, as he reached the back of the portal. If he could see, he would have seen a sign above the red button he'd pressed. It had said not to touch the button while the device was plugged in.

Maddie sat up in bed with an ominous feeling. She got up and noticed one of her keys was shaking and glowing. Maddie's eyes went wide, as she picked them up and ran to her son's room. He wasn't there. She was panicking, as she raced around the house. Her husband soon joined her, and they eventually made their way to the basement. The two adults rushed into the basement with uneven breath, and then they spotted their eight-year-old son. Their eyes widen with panic, as they see him cough and then fall onto the on switch.

"Danny!" Jack and Maddie scream. Danny turns to see his parents, his eyes wide and then the portal turns on.
