Harry crept down the steps of Number 12 Grimmauld Place and carefully approached the kitchen. He stopped in the doorway as not to disturb the blonde sitting at the table. Malfoy had been at the headquarters for over a month now and still had not said anything. With a sigh Harry pushed himself into the kitchen. Malfoy did little more than glance his way as acknowledgement before going back to staring at the wall. Harry sighed and went to the cupboard for a cup.
"Don't mind me. Just passing through." Harry muttered. Malfoy gave no counter. Harry sighed. Malfoy was no fun if he wasn't going to get angry. He gave Malfoy a sideways glance and held out a spare cup. "Tea?"
"Sure."
Had the house not been silent Harry would have missed it. Although slightly bewildered Harry put on a kettle with enough water for the both of them and sat across from Malfoy. The blonde stared blankly at the wall behind him.
"So," Harry drummed his fingers on the table. "It was a lovely day out today."
Malfoy turned his eyes to Harry, gaze hardened by the usual malice.
"I hate you."
Those three words meant more to Harry than anything. The world may be at war but so long as Malfoy kept hating him the world kept turning.
The tea kettle whistled. Harry rose and fixed each of them a cup of tea.
"Sugar?"
Malfoy shook his head.
"You drink your tea plain?"
Malfoy nodded. Harry wrinkled his nose and set the tea in front of Malfoy. After fixing his own he took his seat again. They sipped in silence for a while before Malfoy spoke again.
"Why are you being so nice to me?"
Harry sipped at his tea before answering.
"Antidepressants."
"Oh."
