Chapter One: "This Can't Be Happening…"
Special Agent Megan Reeves sat at her desk thinking of getting home and actually grabbing more than two hours of sleep for the first time in two weeks when her friend and fellow agent Don Eppes came running up to her with David Sinclair and Colby Granger close behind. "We just got a call from LAPD saying there's a bank robbery hostage situation in progress and they need our help."
Damn it. So much for sleep. Megan stood and caught her jacket as Colby tossed it to her off the coat rack. "Let's go get 'em."
Ten minutes later, the FBI team was meeting up with the LAPD officer they usually worked with, Lieutenant Gary Walker. Don and Gary shook hands. "What's the story so far, Gary?" Don asked.
"Well, far as we know, there was only one guy but about ten minutes ago, SWAT took him down and one of the hostages took over."
Megan was surprised. "One of the hostages?"
"Yeah. Well, we think he was a hostage. Maybe he's an accomplice."
Colby shook his head. "Why would a hostage take over and keep every one in there?"
David glanced over at Colby. "That's why Gary said he might be an accomplice."
"Oh."
"Moving on," Don said, clearly annoyed at his youngest agent. "What else do you know?"
"Not much else. One of the hostages was released. We took him to the hospital. He had a heat stroke. Then I saw this." Gary held out a piece of paper to Don, who took it. He sighed.
Megan tried to look over his shoulder. "What is it?"
"This guy is wanted for murder."
"Who is it?" Don handed her the paper. Megan gasped. It was a picture, complete with description and everything the guy was wanted for. A picture of a man she hadn't seen for nearly seven years but she still recognized him, though he had changed. Dean Winchester. "Damn it."
Don watched her. "You know him." It wasn't a question.
"Yeah. And I know his brother, too."
"He has a brother?"
Megan shot Gary Walker a fiery glance before continuing. "And I also know that neither of them would do something like this without reason."
Don let out an icy laugh. "Since when do guys like this have to have a reason for doing something stupid?"
"Trust me. These guys have reasons." Not that you'd believe them.
"Right."
Just then the doors to the bank opened and Dean stepped out with another hostage. It was a young woman this time. His brother Sam was behind him.
Megan watched every SWAT guy and every LAPD officer, including Walker, draw their guns and aim at the Winchester brothers. Don, David, and Colby did the same. Megan couldn't bring herself to aim her gun at her old friends. The only thing that kept her from doing her job was, being so close to the doors of the bank, Sam saw her. As they went back inside after releasing the woman, Megan whispered, "This can't be happening."
A/N: Not the best but please tell me what ya think. Ya like it????
