CHILD ON THE INSIDE
There stands a child who,
Lost in confusion
Watches the world on his own
Hiding behind his cynical vision
Taking the hardships alone
Link stood on one of the soft, rolling hills that characterized Hyrule Field. He looked to Ganondorf's fortress, tainting the skyline. He was having, what Navi called, a 'crisis of purpose'. Sometimes, he just stopped, asking himself what he was even doing anymore. The days blended into the nights and the dawns into dusks, and he did nothing but fight. Fight and fight. Suddenly, the peaceful days of the Kokiri Forest seemed so very far away. He felt so lonely, too, and while Navi was company, and she comforted him, he missed talking to Saria, or playing Epona's Song with Malon.
I see in his eyes that he's desperate to cry
But pride takes a different view
Distrust holds him back, there's a definite lack
Of faith for the ones that he knew
Infact, Malon and Navi were the only childhood friends he could see anymore. Ruto and Saria were sages, Goddesses knows where Zelda was. Even those he wasn't close friends with, like Nabooru and Darunia, were kept away from him. He'd give it all up for just a day with Saria again. He missed her dearly, and he felt like he would never see her now she was a Sage. Curse the Goddesses! Curse his stupid Triforce!
There stands a boy who's trying to grow up
Too fast and too suddenly
A part of him wants to know what he's worth
A part of him wants to be free
Oh what he'd give to be free of the Triforce, of Destiny, of being the Hero of Time. What he'd do just to go back. He never felt right. His legs always felt to long and he often felt dizzy because he was too tall. And when he went back, for the Spirit Temple, he felt too short and he wasn't used to being without all his tools. No matter which way he did it he always felt wrong. He didn't want to grow up like this. Nobody asked him if he wanted to do all this quest, nobody asked him if he'd like to be sealed away for seven years. He felt like a tool, just a weapon for the Sages to use against Ganondorf.
Without premonition he made his decision
Now life is just simply a chore
But deep down inside, with the hope that has died
There's a figure that wants to know more
Oh, he had so many questions, and no answers.
