The Starchild's Gift

Their defeat seemed inevitable, the enemy army was at their capital city. She looked down at the blade she held, it was her father's, his magnum opus. He passed away shortly after forging it, almost as if the universe knew he would never do better.

She looked down the hill at the approaching Noxian army from the castle battlements, and knelt to pray. She prayed that they could survive this onslaught, and for the stars to give her the strength to fight for her country, for her city, for her people.

Unbeknownst to her, one of the divine, what her people called protectors, guardians and gods, heard her prayers and turned her gaze to a woman kneeling on the castle battlements of a castle on a hill in the centre of an island off of the coast of a larger continent.

She rose from her prayer and rushed to the front of the meagre army protecting the city from the foul invaders and pledged to hold the gates until her last breath, until she died, until her brother returned.

The army roared with approval and fell in behind her as she charged down the hill and jumped into the fray. She fought like a madman, fought with the strength of ten people, as she hefted her father's enormous blade like it was nothing as she cut through rows and columns of the invaders.

Then suddenly she was struck with a dark bolt of magic and she fell to the ground writhing in agony. As she drifted in and out of consciousness she realised she was being carried to the hastily thrown together medic tent.

She groaned as she opened her eyes and saw a blue-purple skinned woman standing before her. The figure introduced herself as divine healer or god of healers, the woman explained that she had been hit with dark magic with would have been impossible to cure for a normal person, and that even she had not been able to save her completely.

The woman then lifted her father's blades onto her bed and showed her the glowing orb in the centre, which she had managed to anchor her soul to as she was dying. As she held the glowing orb which was the new home of her soul the blades spilt up and started to float around her. She noticed them and thought 'Stop!' and they did, she thought of them forming back into the one blade and they did, the orb in her hands floating up to join them.

She quickly rose and re-donned her her armour and thought for her blades to follow her as she ran out of the tent and back into battle, she yelled to the survivors to form a line as she jumped into battle again, with her blades dashing around her in a beautiful but deadly dance of death. The invaders could do nothing but run as she cut them down until none remained.

The next week a festival was thrown in her honour and the news that the war was over, the invaders were retreating to their boats. At the end of the festival, she was asked what she was going to do now. She simply told them 'I'm going to become a healer and repay the Starchild (whom no one had seen since when she appeared in the med tent) for saving my life by saving others.'

When asked if she would consider becoming a general and protecting people she jokingly said 'My brother would resent me too much, he's only a sergeant after all.'
