Title: Area 59
Characters: Yoda, an assortment of clones, Lama Su...
Disclaimer: I humbly borrowed. Not mine.
Notes: Written for the 2011 Dare Challenge... (And the irony was that I was given a Yoda-centered challenge twice in the same week. Was I destined to write a little green man that month? Apparently.)
The Challenge...
And visit I will the cloners of Kamino and see this army they have created for the Republic.? Master Yoda ? Attack of the Clones
Your dare is to write Yoda on Kamino but with a little, bitty twist
While looking around Kamino, Yoda discovers area 59, a secret area of the cloning facility. The area houses clones?.but what kind? That will be entirely up to you. You can have some fun with it and make hundreds of Jar-Jar Binks clones, designed to drive the entire Galaxy insane or you can make it serious and have the clones be a special breed of soldier. The only requirement is they cannot be clones of Jango Fett.
The second requirement is ? the clones fate must be decided at some point in your story. They can be destroyed, deployed or Force sealed behind a barrier no one can ever break through or anything else your mind can conjure up. That is entirely up to you.
Oh yeah, and Yoda is the one who decides their fate.
Simple, right
The area of the cloning facility he was standing in hadn't been on the main tour. It was after his guide had left him to his own devices that he found it, and itwas a room of twenty or so various clones all undergoing some kind of metamorphosis. Some were farther along than others, their skin tinted gray with extra, claw-like arms sticking out from their mid sections. It was at once grotesque and a sight to wonder at. To behold.
"Oh, there you are," his guide's voice spoke up, startling him slightly as he felt her approach from behind. "Apologies for startling you, Master Yoda."
Yoda turned and looked up, eyes searching his guide's face. "Tell me of this, you will."
The guide nodded and led him further into the room, and now he saw another set that hadn't been visible from his previous vantage point. They looked normal, but were all in beds behind an isolation forcefield. "This is our medical experimentation room. The ones with the claw-like arms and gray skin are undergoing an enhancing treatment, and those over there behind the isolation screen are part of a trail for a cure to a specific disease."
"For what?" Yoda asked cautiously.
"Advancement of medical science, of course."
The abject calmness of that statement made him shudder, as if this happened all the time. Perhaps, for them, it did. "And progress you are making?"
The guide didn't answer him for a long moment as a monitor over in the area behind the isolation field whined in a familiar declaration of a life ceasing to end. "It depends on what you mean by progress being made. Medicine is not an exact science. But in terms of there someday being a cure for that particular disease... yes."
Yoda listened to the monitor for a moment longer before turning and hobbling his way out of the room. He'd seen enough.
Lama Su smiled as the small Jedi Master walked back into the observation deck, his cane supporting him as he did so. He seemed somewhat more disturbed than last she'd seen him. "I trust you are satisfied, Master Yoda?"
It was a long moment before he answered, staring down into the training facility. "Satisfied, I am. Disturbed by your expermentation area, I am also."
Lama Su wasn't sure what to say, and so said nothing. They had always sought progress for medicine here. It was their way.
"But continue, you may." He glanced up at her, frowning. "If save lives it someday will."
