After a long day of combat practice, Kendra wanted nothing more than to curl up and go to sleep. After Zzyzx, Grandpa had become the head of the Knights of the Dawn, so her and Seth were regular members, always on one mission or another. Constant training is a must in this line of work.

After a quick shower, she changed into her vaguely Harry Potter themed pajamas, and headed back to her room that used to belong to Vanessa.

By the time she got back to her room, Bracken was already in her bed, reading a book in what she recognized to be a fairy Language. He had been staying over a lot recently, to help with one thing or another around the preserve. After much discussion, the adults begrudgingly decided that Kendra was trustworthy enough to let Bracken stay in her room with her.

He looked up from his book as she walked in the room, and smiled at her.

"Hello, my love. How was practice today?"

"It was alright," she answered, climbing into bed. "Would have been better if Seth hadn't yelled 'Welcome to FableHELL, bitch!' every time his sword clashed with Warrens."

He chuckled lightly, setting down his book. "Sounds like him."

"How was your lesson? Learn anything new?" She said, about his history lesson with Ruth. After being in the Living Mirage dungeon for who-knows-how-long, he needed to be caught up with what had been happening in the world. They had covered such topics as wars, politics, and technology. Right now, they were going over pop culture.

"It was a good lesson," he said, gently pulling her closer to plant a kiss on her forehead, "We discussed the evolution of popular music over the past century."

"Mmm?" She settled into a little spoon position with his arms around her waist. Their hands tangled together instantly.

"You know, ever since the lesson, I've had this one song stuck in my head all day."

"Yeah? What song is that?"

He rested his head on her shoulder, and started singing, softly, slowly.

"Take my hand…" he brushed her hair out of her face,

"Take my whole life too…"

A smile started to play at the corners of her mouth.

"And I can't help… falling in love with you."

A brief comfortable silence fell over them as he caressed her hand with his thumb.

"Bracken?"

"Yes, princess?"

"I love you."

He smiled and pulled her closer.

"I love you too."

He kissed her gently on the cheek.

"So much."
