Cedric was just an innocent bystander in the wrong place at the wrong time.
A year later was Sirius Black. He had been killed in the Department of Mysteries fighting with Death Eaters. It was heartbreaking because he had barely reconnected with his god-son Harry. Though he died with a smirk on his face.
Next was Peter Pettigrew. Okay maybe he had already died but he could care less about this traitor.
During the summer of 1996, Amelia Bones was killed by Voldemort. That was sad because her niece was the only one left in her family.
Third was the long time headmaster of Hogwarts Albus Dumbledore killed by his friend and colleague Severus Snape. That was the most heartbreaking fact.
Hedwig, Harry's beloved owl and Mad Eye Moody were next. The owl had died protecting her owner and friend.
Next was a professor at Hogwarts Charity Burbage. The next one was the free elf Dobby. The next one was a beloved father and husband Ted Tonks. That was really heartbreaking.
Death had a few months of downtime until May Second. This made up for the downtime. The first person to die was young Colin Creevey. He was just starting his life. Snape had died also. The next was Fred Weasley another prankster from another era dying with a smirk on his face leaving his devastated twin and family. The most heartbreaking was Remus Lupin and his wife Dora. It was sad Remus had finally got his happy ending in Dora and they had a son only to die.
There were a few other deaths but were those the saddest. Death's job is never done.
