There was another dialogue prompt on Facebook today and out of all the ways it could have turned out, I liked this way the best. The challenge prompt is in bold.

All the characters belong to JE, but the mistakes are mine. I don't make anything from this, but I live for the reviews! ;-)

Stephanie handed over her purse to be searched. She had already removed her stun gun and pepper spray. Her gun was in the cookie jar in her apartment, but she didn't have any bullets for it anyway. Once she got her purse back, she was escorted through the metal detector and directed to the desk where she would need to sign in.

The woman handling the sign in had a pinched face and beady eyes. She stared at Stephanie like she expected trouble. "ID number?" she asked in a very nasal Jersey voice.

"15287349," Stephanie managed to squeak out.

The woman typed something in to her computer. holding her hand out she said, "I need your driver's license. Fill our your full name in the register." Stephanie fumbled her wallet, but produced the license. The woman typed some more into the computer as she filled out the visitor's log. Once that was complete, the woman handed her her driver's license and a visitor's pass. "Go down the hall to the first door on the left. Show the guard your pass and he'll tell you where to go from there."

Stephanie did as she was told and the second guard led her to a small table in a room filled with small tables. She was warned to stay on her side of the table and to not touch the prisoner. Stephanie sat in the chair she was told to and fidgeted while she waited.

After a minute or two, the person she was waiting for appeared on the other side of the table. Stephanie was surprised to see her friend smiling serenely as she sat down. "Well, this is a nice change of scenery."

Her friend shook her head. "It's a prison cell."

Stephanie rolled her eyes. "I was being sarcastic." She took a deep breath. "You know that bail was set, right? I can have you out of here in an hour. I've almost talked her into dropping the charges anyway."

Her friend smiled. "Smakcing your mother in the back of her fat head was totally worth jail time. I bet she'll think twice about calling your husband a thug in public again. Besides, I don't mind being in a cell, it's quieter here than at home, really. I think I'm going to see if they'll let me spend the night."

Disregarding the rules as well as the guard watching them, Stephanie got up and gave her friend a hug. As The guard dragged her away she called out, "I love you, Mary Lou."

Mary Lou smiled and gave her a little finger wave. "Love you too, Babe."
