Author's Notes:

Chapter 1: Loop
He was sure he had seen it before. Ah, yes. It was that dream again. That reoccurring dream that haunts him and gnaws at his memory.
He sat up, though still in bed. He was sweating bullets despite the temperature in his room. But he just sat there, head bowed down and looked at his hands resting on his lap. He leaned on the headboard of the bed and began contemplating his dream. Again.
The dream was always the same. He was at the top landing of some sort of clock tower, the giant clock facing him while its tiny mechanisms continued to move. It would continue to be silent for a while, with the only sound being the clock's ticking. Then there would be giggles and soft laughter. After a while, the source of these sounds would materialized. It was always a girl.
She was wearing a black sailor fuku uniform. What's more noticeable is her red scarf. It was casually wrapped around her neck, loosely tucking her hair into it.
Her back was facing him. It was always like that. Even if he wants to see her face, he can't.
Then after that, things began to freeze. The clock's ticking stopped so as the girls soft laughter. Everything went grey except the both of them. The girl steps closer to the edge of the landing. He sensed something dangerous might happen.
He moves closer. The girl was at the edge of the landing by then.
His palms began to sweat. He began to run towards her, yelling but there's no voice coming out from him.
She seemed to stop momentarily.
He ran faster but the space between them seemed to widen.
He yelled louder and outstretched his hand in a vain hope of grabbing the girl.
But it was too late. She jumped and was swallowed by the darkness beneath.
And there it ended. Always. He tried to shrug the dream off at first but he realized that the girl was vaguely familiar.
And after waking up each and every time, in addition to the confusion he always felt, he was left with another thought. Just a single word.
"Ayano."
