Hi there! This is my first attempt at a multi-chapter, and I have no idea how long this will run. This can be seen as a sort of prologue I guess? This currently has no set update schedule anyhow. Future chapters will be longer than this one most likely.

Writing here starts after DC File 908, however this prologue contains no spoilers.

Usual disclaimer that I don't own a majority of the characters. Art credit goes to Pixiv Member あいすまんじゅう, Member ID 37396576

It was entering the small hours when the senior Tsuburayas returned, climbing out of their taxi to retire to the bedroom. Having left the house in Asumi's care, they had left for a meal, to celebrate their Wedding Anniversary. As such, they were not surprised to see that their house was devoid of illumination, presumably with Mitsuhiko and Asumi asleep.

The pair silently entered their porch, avoiding making too much noise, as to not disturb the children. Despite being very slightly tipsy, Shika made her way up the stairs quietly to make sure her son and daughter were, indeed, asleep. A few creaks echoed across the floor, as one would expect, but nothing out of the ordinary. She gently pushed the door open, avoiding it squeaking too much. However, she was not greeted by her sleeping son, or even her awake son. The room was empty, barren. Scared, she shouted down to her husband, before moving to check on Asumi. Nope. Empty.

Downstairs, Daichi heard his panicked wife. However, he was also frazzled. The electricity for the house wasn't working, meaning he couldn't ring the police, having already checked the living room. Flicking his lighter on to see in the dark, he manoeuvred the living room and opened the door to the kitchen.

Noticing a very pungent odour upon opening the kitchen door, Daichi moved to turn off his lighter before what smelled like gas could ignite.

If only it had been that simple.

The gas reached the lighter before anyone could realistically do anything, igniting and spreading quickly, burning so quickly the house collapsed upon itself. The last thing that both Daichi and Shika heard was a fire alarm, ringing until both slipped unconscious.

By the time emergency services arrived, it was too late, and it was decided for the safety of the fire-fighters to let the building burn out naturally.
