Aang took the saddle off of Appa as Katara gathered some hay for him to eat. Once Appa was situated the pair headed for Makapu Village.
It had been two years since Fire Lord Ozai had been defeated. During that time Zuko had rebuilt the Fire Nation capital and then reunited his mother whom he found living in the outer ring in Ba Sing Se. Sokka returned to the Southern Water Tribe with Suki in tow. Toph had decided to live in a small Earth Kingdom village with Haru. Meanwhile Aang and Katara had traveled the world freeing towns held hostage by Ozai loyalists who still wanted a Fire Nation dominated world. They had freed hundreds of villages and were now headed back to the Southern Water Tribe when Katara asked Aang to make a stop.
The town looked just as they had remembered it when Aang saved it from the volcano above it. They headed to Aunt Wu's for a reading. Once they got there Meng greeted them. She walked Katara into Aunt Wu and then returned to the waiting area with Aang. She stood behind the counter staring at his big ears for what seemed like forever before breaking the silence.
'So you and Katara?', she asked.
'Yea', he beamed. 'Who'd have thought.'
'Not me.', she said sullenly.
'Something wrong Meng?'
'Do you think all of Aunt Wu's predictions come true?'
'Sure. I mean it may take time but I believe so. Don't you?'
Meng walked around the counter taking in the avatar. Sure she had a gap between her front teeth. Sure her hair was still knotted and tied in pigtails but she was just as pretty as Katara was. She had grown up since she last saw the duo and filled out nicely. She wore a pink robe with red borders with white flowers in the borders.
'She told me a few yrs. ago that I'd meet and marry a boy with big ears.' She looked at his ears then continued. 'She also said his name would sound similar to mine. Aang.'
'That sounds interesting.'
Aang nervously smiled and hoped then that Katara's reading with Aunt Wu would end and rescue him from this situation.
'And as you said', she walked closer to him, 'All of her predictions come true.'
Meng closed the distance between them, leaned up and kissed Aang softly on the lips. He was taken aback and didn't respond right away but when he did he pulled away.
'I'm sorry Meng. Maybe all of her predictions don't come true.'
Just then the door to the reading room opened and Katara walked out ecstatic from whatever Aunt Wu had predicted for her.
'Aang would you like a reading?', Aunt Wu asked.
'No, thanks I think I've had enough predictions for a few lifetimes.'
Katara hugged Aunt Wu a few times before going over to Aang and intertwining her fingers with his. They walked out hand and hand as Meng watched them.
'Don't be strangers.', Meng said as they walked out. 'All of her prophecies do come true. You'll see Aang. Once you get rid of that floozie.'
End
