Teddy Bear.

Challenge fic. "Growing Up Challenge" by Elledreamer. This is a two part oneshot, about Draco Malfoy. : )

He ran across the cold, marble floor, his feet slapping in his footie-pajamas. He was clutching his little teddy bear in his hands, he had a thumb in his mouth. His silvery eyes were scanning the threshold of his house for his mom. His little voice echoed off of the stone walls. A faint "Mama!" was bouncing off of the walls, and back into his ears, like echolocation. He couldn't find her anywhere. Another "Mama" echoed into his ears. A portrait of his great-grandfather glared coldly at him. He was personally afraid of the deceased man. He was scary.

"Mama!" Draco shouted once again. "I have's-ta pee!" Draco shouted. He didn't want to do it in his paper- They were for babies, and Draco Malfoy was three years old, he was definitely not a baby. Narcissa Malfoy ran out of her kitchen, she was practicing cooking the muggle way, full of flour.

"Oh, Draco. Come here." She scooped him into her arms, and brought him into the bathroom. Draco smiled and peed the "Big boy way."

"Daddy! Daddy! I did it!" Draco ran out of the bathroom, his hands dripping with soapy water, his arm encircled around his teddy bear.

"Good job, Draco!" Lucius grinned and grabbed his son. Draco smiled and hugged into his father. He wanted to be just like his daddy when he grew up.

Fifteen years later ...

Draco glared at the portrait of his father in the hall of his house. He was standing next to his mother, an arm wrapped around her shoulders.

"He was a great man, Draco." She sniffled into Draco's shoulder.

"In what lifetime?" Draco scoffed.

"Oh, Draco," Narcissa sniffled again. She took her son's face in her hands. "He loved you, he wanted what was best for you. He really did. He was just confused about what was best." Narcissa kissed his cheek.

"Mother, he tried to make me follow the most evil wizard to ever live," Draco scowled at the picture again. "Besides, that's not best for anyone. Father was obviously twisted and sick."

"Draco Malfoy. Do not talk about your father like that!" Narcissa snapped. Draco walked down the hall and went into the old closet. There was a big box labeled 'Draco's Childhood.' Draco didn't remember this box from when he was little. He opened the box.
Directly on top, there was a tattered toy. His old teddy bear. His breath got caught in his throat. He picked it up, and sniffed it. It smelled like the childhood he could remember.

He remembered how he wanted to be just like daddy.

He smirked at the teddy bear and hugged it. He no longer wanted to be like daddy.
