Truth of the Matter
Words are petty, and that's the truth of it. You ever heard someone say "the truth shall set you free"? well, I've heard it more than I've ever want too and that's just from my childhood alone.
Bah, what do you want to know bout me childhood? It ain't like it was fun or exciting in anyway? Dad kidnapped a teacher for me, he was nice, he knew things. Loved history, made me know whole facts that I never did want to know!
Truth of the matter is that Dad wanted me to be educated. And I mean, really educated so that I could start up a business someplace and make loads of money the honest way. He tried, and I resented him for it. He hated every girl I was even interested in. Even hated Lillian, the girl I married only because she was going to die.
We never consummated our marriage though, it would have made her passing even worse for me, and if that is one thing I can't take, is the loss of something close to me. That was when I decided to sail for England, make a new life and forget about her. Dad was happy, he was able to apprentice me to a map maker on his way to England as well.
But I never got there. Our ship was attacked, the Map Maker died and I was on my way to find my own truth in this world. I became a pirate, had to work my way up. But then again, who doesn't? but I always wanted to be Captain. That was the one possession that I knew I could do better than anyone else. Better than Blackbeard and that's saying something, that is, savvy?
Truth, always hated that word, and yet I do live by it. To some degree.
I am truly unhappy to have to tell you this, but through an unfortunate and entirely unforeseeable series of circumstances that had nothing whatsoever to do with me, poor Will has been press-ganged into Davy Jones's crew.
Of course that had been a complete lie, but we all know that don't we? And somehow it seems appropriate to comment that I honestly don't care. She knows it's a lie. I know it's a lie, hell, even the bloody Commodore knew it was a lie. Even the rest o' me crew knew as well. They were there when Blood Squid Face threatened me!
(Yes, threatened and I'm sticking to my story, savvy?)
And then, you know what happens? She say's I'm a liar? Well, I don't lie all that well. To be honest with ye, I don't think I do. I have no clue what others see when I do lie, but I don't care.
It's real!
You actually were telling the truth!
I do that actually quite a lot and yet people are always surprised.
((You watch Jack start on his third bottle of the night. The tavern is mostly empty, seeing as its midday))
Oh well, ain't no skin off my back.
Now, remember when I was telling ye about the curse treasure of Hannibal? The loot he took from Rome? That, my friend is buried someplace in the middle of the ocean, otherwise called the triangle of Doom. ..?
