Part Five
By Kathe
Kermit and Caine were heading into Simms office when Caine stopped.
"What is it Caine? Did something happen to Peter?" asked Kermit.
"My son contacted me and asked for my help. I do not know where they are keeping him. He has been drugged again."
"Kermit, where is Peter?" Simms said as she came out of her office. That is when she noticed Caine standing there.
"Let's discuss this in private." Both men followed her into the office. "OK, tell me what's going on."
Kermit proceeded to tell her everything he knew, from the e-mail to what Caine had told him. "Captain, I was hoping that you would not tell anyone what has happened to Peter. I think that the less people that know about what has happened the better. I think that the people who have taken Peter, have a man watching everything that goes on here. I will tell a few people what has happened, but only those that I'll need to find Peter. I hope that you can keep this under wraps for awhile."
" I'll try Kermit. But what are you and Caine going to do?" Simms asked.
" What else, but try to bring Peter back. He still has a pile of cases to do." Kermit said as he headed out the door.
Peter awoke once again. This time he was no longer chained to a wall, but was tied to a chair. As he looked around he noticed that he was in a small room with no windows. The only light in the room, as far as he could see, was a small lamp at the far end of the room.
"Where are you, and what do you want from me?" yelled Peter.
"I told you already, I want your life." said a voice. Peter looked toward the small lamp and saw a shadow step towards him.
" Who are you?" asked Peter.
" What, you don't remember an old friend? You put me away in jail five years ago."
Peter tried to think of every case that he had, to place the voice with a face. Then it came to him. " LeRoy Travis. I thought that you had gotten life."
"Well, let's just say that when you have money in your pocket, you can get anything that you want. You see, while in jail, I ran across a couple of people who hated me. So they decided to take their anger out on me. I was in the prison hospital for two months. I never did get back the full use of my left arm. I blame you for this, and have thought of nothing else but getting back at you. Now I get my chance. You will experience every pain that I went through, plus more. So how about we get started?"
Out of nowhere two men came, and untied Peter and threw him into the middle of the room. Peter was still disoriented from the drug he had been given, so he didn't have much of a chance against the two brutes. They beat him until he could no longer stand on his own. They continued to beat him, until he couldn't stand even with the help of the wall. They dropped him to the floor, and then turned and left.
Travis stood back in the shadows and watched, with a smile on his face.
