And super short.
Inspired by a couple of promo photos from episode 1x09, "Fool in the Rain."
I found the website (spoilertv) through angeleyes4191's fic "Trust", which was inspired by another set of promo photos.
EDIT: Uh. Yeah, I didn't finish this before the episode aired. So.
I know there are probably a few takes on this already, but… I was inspired when I saw the photo online and since this is pretty much all that would come out when I sat down to type it, even with editing, I figured I might as well post it.
The truth is complicated. Forgive me.
Those six words stared back at her, six words that had changed her life two years ago.
Six words that had shattered her world, and had haunted her every day for twenty four months and counting.
Six words that had made her cry dozens of tears, and that had shown her how easily her walls could come down.
Six words that, given enough time to sink in, had made her bitter towards one Ben Mercer, and that had forced her to reevaluate her priorities.
Six words that had fueled her determination to put the past behind her, and to change her outlook.
Six words that now glowed in the small flame from her lighter, burning up inch by inch and taking the hurt with them.
End notes: Uhm. I wasn't sure about this one.
I doubt Annie got permission to burn the note, but maybe…
Also, I believe in the Pilot Annie confirms that her last relationship ended two years prior to her joining the CIA.
