Hotel Transylvania (Pre-Movie: The untold part of the tale)

Dracula's father hated humans even more than he did, seeing as how Dracula had now learned that the 21st century humans weren't as bad as the 19th century ones.

Vlad hated humans so much that he even hated the monsters closer to the human end of the scale, like Griffin.

Thing was, there was a very good reason that Dracula had become friends with the invisible man.

-

The villagers had the castle nearly surrounded, Dracula had just told Martha to hide. Attempting to reason with the humans turned fatal for Martha, and (Dracula had thought at the time) Mavis. So he killed all the villagers in a furious blind rage, seeing only the flames and flashes of red. He ran up to the top of the hill and looked down toward his burning home, having killed every one of the mob. He heaved heavily, grieve stricken. He fell to his knees crying, he had lost his family.

Then, he heard Mavis call to him. Could it be? He jumped to his feet. She sounded so close! But how?
"I couldn't stop them." An unfamiliar male voice told him sadly, "especially given who I was supposed to protect."

"Show yourself!" Dracula yelled, for he could not see the owner of the voice. Suddenly Mavis appeared, as if he'd by... Invisible arms?

"I saw the fire," the voice explained, "and the mob. I wanted to see if I could help whoever the humans were after, escape." He handed Mavis off into Dracula's disbelieving grasp. "As soon as I made it inside, I ran into her mother. I called out to her, and the first thing she asked me is whether I could lend her child my invisibility!"

Glasses appeared from nowhere, and perched on an invisible face. "I told her I could defiantly hide her daughter, and maybe even her... She just- she handed the little girl over and told me to run and hide. She told me to leave her, and just keep her daughter safe. I took her and ran, what else could I do?"

Dracula was prevented from immediately responding when Mavis reached out her arms toward the floating glasses. She fussed and made her typical 'upset' noises. The glasses shuffled closer, "I'm sorry kiddo, I did my level best."

Mavis settled down at the sound of the man talking to her.
"Her... Her name is Mavis... Her mother- Martha, oh Martha-" he shook his head, this moment was bitter sweet. He had thought he had lost Mavis, but he hadn't- but, Martha...

"I'm sorry, I would have tried if she'd let me... But if only ever have been able to manage to disappear small to medium sized things, held close to my body. Like my clothes, or my glasses... If I'd just been more sure, maybe she-"
"No." Dracula interrupted, "Martha just wanted to make sure Mavis would be safe- even if that meant making sure she wouldn't slow your escape at all... I don't blame you- I- I'm indebted to you, thank you... What is your name?"

"Griffin."
"Thank you, Griffin. My name is Count Dracula."
