Snow fell from a black sky which was- at the moment- devoid of any stars. Neji was walking Tenten home after a particularly hard mission. Neither spoke much, but to each, silent moments with one another seemed just as important and meaningful as talkative ones. They reached the door to Tenten's house and climbed up the steps, facing each other on the top one.

"Um…" began Tenten awkwardly, "thanks for walking me home, Neji."

"Hn. Not a big deal."

"…"

"…"

"So…make sure you take care of your shoulder, Neji. Lay off it for a little so it doesn't hurt- remember what Tsunade said." Neji smirked and replied:

"Don't worry about me, just don't do anything major to that ankle of yours. Stay off it for a little." Tenten smiled at him.

"Aw! You really do care!" she said teasingly.

"Hn." Was his reply, his smirk turning into half a scowl. The two, for some reason, simultaneously looked up, and saw that someone had placed a garland of mistletoe on the doorway of Tenten's house. The two then looked at each other for a few awkward moments until Tenten broke the silence saying:

"Well, um… it would be bad luck if we broke a tradition-"and was silenced by Neji as he placed his lips on hers. Together they stood, shrouded by flurries of snow, holding each other tight until they broke apart.

"Merry Christmas, Tenten. Training starts the day after tomorrow- don't forget it," Neji said as he smirked, walking away and leaving a stunned Tenten still standing at the doorway.

"Merry Christmas to you too, Neji," she said softly, smiling to herself as she watched him walk home.
