Undying Love Chapter 5
"Sarah..." She heard Jareth moan at about three o'clock the next morning. Sarah got up off the floor and looked at him. He was sitting up, his arms crossed over his chest and he was shivering. She went over to him and placed another blanket around him. Jareth accepted it thankfully. His grateful smile soon turned to a serious frown.
"I think I am getting worse Sarah". He said gravely just as a bolt of lightning lit up the room even through the thick drapes. Sarah went over to the fireplace in the far corner of the room where a small flame was still burning. Before she had a chance to answer, Jareth continued. His voice growing softer as he spoke.
"Please, again I beseech you not to leave my side love, part of me dies whenever you leave me".He said as he settled back down onto his pillow. Sarah took his body into her arms and held him close. She looked toward the window as more lightning flashed before answering Jareth in a soft comforting voice.
"I won't leave again". She said giving him a small kiss on his fevered cheek before getting off of his bed and gently laying him down. The Goblin King coughed into the sleeve of his nightshirt before closing his eyes and letting sleep claim him again. Sarah listened to him as he would wheeze when he tried to breathe through his nose and cough lightly ever so often. He began to shiver again and he pulled the blankets closer around himself. Sarah laid against the chair and watched as the lightning casted dancing shadows on the bedroom walls.
"Please live Jareth". She silently prayed to herself before falling asleep just as the sun was rising over the walls of the king's labyrinth.
