Just a one-shot I wrote one night when I was bored to death (no pun intended)
WARNING: CHARACTER DEATH! Don't like it, don't read.
Apologies if you come across any typos or grammatical errors. This isn't exactly my best work xD
Disclaimer: I do not own NCIS. What I do own is a Caf-Pow cup and Bert the Hippo =D
It only takes one second to make someone and break someone. It takes one second to die, and one second to tell someone that you love them. Because life's too short not to tell someone that you love them when you do.
He couldn't sleep. His eyes burned with fatigue, but still he couldn't close them. He felt dehydrated and close to starvation, but he couldn't bring himself to eat or drink. Nothing else mattered anymore. She was gone. In one second, she had been taken away. From this life; from love; from him. His mind flashed back. He heard that single gunshot rip through the air. Neither of them had seen it coming. But it was too late. She was gone; a single bullet shattering her heart. And his. The numbness of his mind and body vividly overtook him again and forced him into yet another paralysed state. He couldn't live without her. He had lost her once before; but he had gotten her back. This time though, he had seen her body lying on Ducky's cold stainless-steel slab. There was no way to get her back. He couldn't live without her, and yet she had slipped through his fingers like grains of sand. He had never told her. Never told her that she was the one who made him truly happy; never told her that she was the one he trusted most and called his best friend. He never told her that she was the one he loved. His eyes glistened with unshed tears that refused to fall. He remembered all of the good times they had shared together; all the heartache that they had felt for each other over the years. Finally, he remembered the look on her face as the bullet tore through her body. Her eyes, searching swiftly for his as she fell heavily onto the ground. Her eyes. The look in them that told him what he needed to hear, but would now never get the chance. The look in her eyes that told him their love for each other was mutual. And too late.
Don't say I didn't warn you...
