(A/N: I don't really know where this idea came from. I was just thinking about how upset Elphaba was about the shoes, and I decided to write about it. Enjoy!)
Shoes
Those red shoes were more than just shoes.
Those shoes were Elphaba proving to herself that she was not Wicked, that she was still capable of helping people.
Those shoes were Elphaba giving her sister the chance to fly, because everyone deserves that, don't they?
And now the shoes were gone. They had disappeared with the little girl who had stolen them.
And now that they were gone, Elphaba wasn't sure what to do. Those shoes represented her last strand of goodness, so if they weren't there anymore, was she truly an evil person?
No, she couldn't be evil, not yet. She could do other things to prove her righteousness.
But without the shoes, there was no proof, nothing Elphaba could hold in her hands, say "I am good," and show as evidence.
If those red shoes were Elphaba's goodness, then maybe she truly was Wicked.
