News items from the Westover (Me.) weekly Enterprise, October 2, 1993:
RAIN OF STONES REPORTED
It was reliably reported by several persons that a rain of stones fell from a clear blue sky on Carlin Street in the town of Albequrque on October 2nd. The stones fell principally on the home of Mrs. Lucy Evens, damaging the roof extensivly and ruining two gutters and a downspout valued at approximately $25. Mrs. Evans, a widow, lives with her three-year-old daughter, Sharpay.
Mrs. Evans could not be reached for comment.
The locker room was filled with shouts, echoes, and the subterranean sound of showers splashing on tile. Sharpay stood among her own shower, a frog among swans. She was a skinny very beautiful girl, but still no one liked her. She heard all of them gossip.
"-so Troy said he hated it on me-"
"- too cheap to spend a damn penny so Kelsi and I-"
Miss Desjardin, their gym teacher stepped in and slapped her hands once, smartly.
"What are you waiting for Sharpay? Doom? Bell in five minutes."
The girls giggled and Sharpay looked up. The girls giggled again. Gabriella Montez had whipped a towel from her hair and began to comb rapidly. Miss Desjardin made an irritated cranking gesture at Sharpay and stepped out. Sharpay turned off the shower. It died in a drip and a gurgle.
It wasn't until she stepped out that they all saw the blood running down her leg.
From The Shadow Exploded: Documented Facts and Specific Conclusions Derived from the Case of Sharpay Evans, by David R. Congress p. 34:
We have only skimpy hearsay evidencu upon which to lay our foundation in this case, but even this is enough to indicate that a telekinesis potential of immense magnitude exsisted within Sharpay Evans. The great tragedy is that we are now all Monday-morning quarterbacks...
"Per-iod!"
The catcall came first from Taylor McKessie. It struck the tiled walls, rebounded, and struck again. Gabriella Montez gasped laughter from her nose and felt an odd, vexing mixture of hate, revulsion, exasperation, and pity. She just looked so dumb, standing there, not knowing what was going on. God, you'd think she never---
"PER-iod!"
It was becoming a chant. Someone was now yelling, "plug it up!"
"PER-iod, PER-iod, PER-iod!"
They began chanting again and again. A tampon struck Sharpay in the chest. Then more, and more, and more.
"PLUG IT UP! PLUG IT UP! PLUG IT UP!"
The door swung open. Miss Desjardin came running in. The bell rang, and all the girls quickly ran out. Miss Desjardin ran up to Sharpay.
"M-M-Miss D-D-Des-D-"
"Get up," Miss Desjardin said dispassionatley. "Get up and tend to yourself."
"I'm bleeding to death!" Sharpay screamed.
"Sharpay! You are having your period."
"Period?" Sharpay said.
"Sharpay?" She advanced toward her. "Sharpay?"
Sharpay flinched away. At the same instant the lightbulb about her shattered. Miss Desjardin looked up at it, and then back at Sharpay.
"Sharpay was this your first period?"
"It hurts," Sharpay groaned. "My stomach..."
That passes," Miss Desjardin said. "You have to stop the flow of blood. You- "
Then a rack of softball bats in the corner fell over with a large, echoing bang. Miss Desjardin cried out with surprise. She picked up one of the tampons.
"Look," she said. "Like this---"
