Scorpius can't deny it anymore; he loves Rose. But he's a Malfoy, and she's Ron Weasley's daughter – she's hated him since before they even met.
He's sick of the contempt that comes with being a Malfoy. Unlike his grandfather, Scorpius doesn't believe his surname makes him God, and nor does his father. But perceptions linger, and Draco's remembered as a murderous Death Eater. He isn't a murderer, although he was a Death Eater and far from perfect. And Scorpius shouldn't be punished for old mistakes. He's innocent.
