Natalya was feeling sick, she had been the whole day. Alfred had been trying to help but nothing seemed to work. Alfred thought that maybe it was the flu or just a stomach ache, but Natalya had a different idea.
She had missed her period for about 2 weeks and she think she knew why.
Alfred was worried and didn't want her to go alone to the store but Natalya convinced him to let her go alone, she was feeling a bit better after some TLC. And of course she didn't want Alfred to see what she was buying.
She walked into the drug store with a big green, oversized jacket and bags beneath her eyes. Natalya walked through the store until she found the pregnancy tests. She kneeled down and grabbed the first one she saw, it didn't matter the brand.
Natalya walked over to the counter and put the pregnancy test down. The checkout woman looked at Natalya and scanned the box. "That'll be about $9" Natalya tiredly took her money out of her wallet and handed it to the clerk. "Thank you." she whispered dryly and walked out of the store.
Natalya may have seemed unemotional about it but she really was excited. She and Alfred had been trying to conceive for months but with no luck. Today she was really hopeful, she had been feeling sorta sickly the last few days.
When she got home she walked to her bathroom, saying hi to Alfred on the way.
She opened a box and for a moment just stared at test and hoped. "Please be pregnant." She quietly willed. She did as the test told her and afterward inserted the stick back into the test. Then she closed the lid of the toilet and sat on it and waited.
Natalya closed her eyes and inhaled. She shakily took the pregnancy test in her hand and looked closely at the tiny screen on the test. Two lines. There were two lines.
Immediately she put her hand over her mouth and closed her eyes tight. She opened her eyes again and looked at the test, Natalya couldn't believe it, she stared at the box and confirmed that two lines meant she was pregnant. She got off the toilet and crouched on the ground and inhaled again. Her body shook with a sob, she tried to be as quiet as possible but she let one slip causing Alfred to knock at the door asking. "Are you okay in there Natalya?" Natalya swallowed and opened the door and right after seeing Alfred she wrapped her arms around his neck.
Alfred eyes widened and he felt surprised. Natalya still had her arms around Alfreds neck but backed away a little. She stared warmly into Alfreds eyes. "Alfred," Her small cracking voice whispered, her eyes shaking. "I'm pregnant!" She smiled.
Alfred felt his body grow warm and he grabbed Natalyas adorable face. "You're serious!" Alfred questioned. Natalya giggled and showed him the pregnancy test. "Really."
Alfred beamed and grabbed Natalya into a hug. Natalya hugged back. "We're pregnant!" He yelled with laughter in his voice as he lifted her off the ground in a tight grip.
Alfred suddenly stopped and put her down. "Wait I don't wanna hurt the baby." Natalya closed her eyes and laughed. "Don't worry, you didn't hurt me or the baby." Alfreds face softened and he choked out. "We're really pregnant?" Natalya looked down and put her hands on her stomach. "We're really pregnant."
