While You Were Sleeping
Ivory-Princess
A/N: This is meant to be a scene in Eclipse when Bella is sleeping with Edward. It's been a while since I have written, so I hope that you all will be graceful.
She was an angel next to a demon. The pale moonlight gleamed down upon my Bella as she slept soundlessly next to me. She truly was the most beautiful creature I had ever seen during my two centuries of life. I still can't help but wonder how she was brought to me—but, I dare not question it.
She is my blessing.
She is my hope.
And she is what keeps me here.
I do not know how I managed to be without her all these years. Esme and Carlisle tell me of fate and how the powers of the supernatural are the cause of most things; however, to me, Isabella Swan exceeds such simplistic thoughts. To me, Isabella Swan exceeds all things.
Her beauty is something I could ponder about forever—and I have the time to do so. It amazes me how someone with her unfathomably, flawless features could stare at me with such a profound love and a great hope. As I said, I will not question it. Instead, I will be thankful for her love and silently hope she knows she will have the same affection from me.
I love her and I need her with me. More than I need anyone or anything else in this life. Or, I should say, this realm. Her presence is what makes the lifeless heart in my cold chest ache. This…girl…is what makes me. Without her, I am nothing.
Without her… I. Want. Nothing.
I cannot help but to feel a vehement sickness when I think about her desire to be…what I am.
"Why would you want such a thing?" Her silence is my response.
Why would something so beautiful want to be something so opposite? No, I tell myself, Bella Swan will never be anything else other than beautiful.
Vampire or not, she will be forever beautiful in my eyes.
I closed my eyes and began to focus on her pulse. Her beautiful pulse… It won't be there anymore, I silently whisper. The moment you do it, the sound will be gone.
Oh, the sound. It is one of my most favorite things of her. The rhythm of her blood flowing through her veins and the way it rushes to her cheeks the majority of the time. The stiff smile that had appeared on my lips suddenly faded away as a violent shudder shot through me. "Damn," I mutter quietly. Whenever I think about her flesh, I feel an undeniable urge. There is still a thirst for her.
But, I will never give in; at least, not in that way. Never in that way.
I would end myself before it would happen. I have to breathe in a couple of times, so that I can have it under control. As I inhale, the scent of her enters my system. It seems being next to her sleeping body, awakens my own. Her aroma is nothing familiar to my senses. Comparing it to a fruit or some other fragrance does not do her justice. However, that does not surprise me when it comes to her. There is nothing equal to her. She probably tastes the way she smellsthe demon badgered.
"Stop…" I whisper.
"Stop what…?" Her tired response startled me. Her eyes were still closed as she spoke.
I smiled as I brushed a strand of hair behind her ear—her pulse quickened. Another smile escaped my lips. "Nothing."
She slowly moved to her side, facing me. A sleepy "liar" escaped her lips before she fell into another slumber.
Now would be a great chance, Edward…
No.
She wants you to do it…
NO.
I shook my head of the thoughts as a twinge of anger fell upon me. And this is what you want to be. I looked at her and sighed uselessly. And this is what you shall be.
