SUMMARY: Alternative idea to the Olicity goodbye scene in 3x09.
DISCLAIMER: I don't own any of the Arrow characters – just a fan of the show.
A/N: Heyo! I wrote this a long time ago but it is just a short fic of what I had imagined for 3x09 the Olicity goodbye scene. Also, I am still very new to writing & all mistakes are mine. All comments/feedback appreciated!
"I love you" Oliver confessed.
" No… " Felicity shouted back. "What now, Oliver? You tell me you love me and we… we sit down here and we can't be together but we act like nothings wrong? What am I supposed to do, Oliver? You came to me. You asked me to be apart of your little crusade and now you're just going to walk away?"
"You will find your way, Felicity. You always do."
"No, I don't accept that. I have lost so many people, Oliver" Her voice had now changed from angry and upset, to quiet and vulnerable. "I can't lose you too."
"I'm sorry, Felicity." He replied.
He could see her eyes welling with tears and he dropped his walls. Instead of being the strong and controlled Oliver he always had to be, he did what he wanted, he did what felt right. He moved one step closer and pulled her against his body. His arms snaked around her stomach and rested on her hips. His lips gently but passionately hit hers. The kiss was filled with everything from despair to lost words and a longing that had not been filled since he had first laid eyes on her. When they pulled back for air, Felicity's eyes met Oliver's. They had changed from the hunger and desperation of what they had just experienced, to emphasize the sadness and realization that this was once again, goodbye. With her forehead resting against his, she continued lose herself in his deep blue gaze, and she replied.
"I love you too", her voice breaking with every word.
Knowing that this may be his last chance, Oliver did not reply, he just held her. For what felt like an eternity he held her, absorbing every last bit of her warmth. When he pulled back, the cold air filled the new space between their bodies and he unwrapped his arms from her and left.
Felicity didn't move from her position, she just stared at the floor as the tears began to run down each side of her face. Shock had hit her and she did know how to process what had just happened. Not being able to hold herself up any longer, her hands began to tremble as she sobbed as her knees slowly dropped to meet the cold hard concrete. How could something so beautiful be so tragic? How could the love of her life just walk away? Dig's large, familiar hands met her back and drew small, comforting circles as he sat with her, listening to her cries. She didn't know how should would ever be able to find the strength and motivation to get up and move on, but for now, she didn't have to.
Four weeks later and it had only taken three weeks for the hopeful light that Felicity had always carried to die out. The news of Oliver's death had taken its toll on her. Her once glowing skin had now become pale and the dark circles under her eyes, reminders of all the sleepless nights she had spent crying and worrying. She had kept her job at Palmer technologies but she was no longer invested, which Ray had noticed… so he backed off and gave her some space. Even the way she carried herself, the way she entered a room, she had become so unlike herself. Her adorable bubbliness, which was once one of the defining aspects of her personality, had changed. She not longer babbled, instead only said what was necessary and needed for any given conversation. Trips to the foundry to catch up with Dig and Roy had become less frequent because it was too painful; it was too much of a reminder of what she no longer had. By the end of the fourth week with no Oliver, she had already accepted that there was a rare chance of finding him alive, or even finding him at all.
