This is about Hagrid's family, a few mentions of his life, and Grawp.
Thicker than Water.
My mother was Giant.
They'd mock me if they knew,
They'd say she was a monster.
And it would be true.
She never cared for me.
I was a runt, you see.
She ran away and left us;
Me and my ol' dad.
He was a good man;
He showed me how to love.
How to care and be cared for,
How to learn and to adore.
He died so young;
I never said goodbye.
And even though my heart was torn,
My eyes, they would not cry.
After my disgrace,
My greatest mistake,
My dreams and hopes and future,
All lay before one man.
He picked me up and helped me;
He gave me a house and home;
A job he found and gave for free,
Did Headmaster Dumbledore.
And in return I helped him;
Dangerous jobs I did.
And when the Order returned
There was one thing that he bid.
I was to go France,
To the mountains in the sky.
I was to be an ambassador
To those who lived up high.
But this time I had a friend.
She was good and kind and brave.
Many months together we did spend.
Up in the mountains, in the sky.
Our mission failed,
Valiantly though we tried.
And when I thought of our narrow escape,
My heart jumped and quailed.
Still, it was not fruitless;
I met one of close kin.
It was my brother no less.
And I could not leave him. That I knew.
Slowly we travelled,
For Grawp was upset.
He was wild and untamed,
And larger than us both.
When we returned to England,
No welcome we got.
Secrecy was our cover,
And silence our lot.
I hid him in the forest, away from the world.
Only the centaurs knew and understood.
He was wild and stupid;
Knew nothing good.
Often he hurt me
And broke his bonds;
Yet I was his friend,
And he knew me on sight.
I look after him;
He is my brother.
My friend, my confidant;
My only family.
No more anger, no more slaughter;
No more hiding, cheating, lying;
All for him, for my brother.
Because blood is thicker than water.
