Ralph's Spare Time
Ralph awoke to Roger's pale face staring down intently at him. The dark haired boy was clutching what appeared to be a journal in one hand and had the other hovering over Ralph's shoulder. Without waiting for the fair boy to speak, Roger handed the book to Ralph, a wry smirk playing on his lips.
"What is it?" Ralph looked at the page that Roger had left open. It appeared to be a story and a pretty amateur one at that. Ralph's face slowly turned crimson as he read the text, causing Roger's smirk to extend into a Joker-esque grin. "How did you find this?!" demanded Ralph as he got to his feet, not daring to make eye contact with the other boy. Roger quickly stepped forward and snatched the journal from Ralph's hands.
"Never mind how I found it," said Roger, "I want to know why you wrote it!" This was it. He knew. Ralph never expected any of the boys to find the stories and he had certainly hoped they wouldn't. After the boys were rescued and taken back to England, many of them—including Ralph –needed a therapist to help them cope with the events on the island. Ralph's therapist had recommended writing down his thoughts and feelings but somehow he was sure this was not what she had in mind. However, Roger now knew what Ralph did in his spare time and he wasn't going to let him get away with it without humiliating him first. Just as the blonde boy thought the moment couldn't get any worse, one terrifying phrase escaped Roger's lips causing Ralph's face to drain of all colour: "Wait 'til Jack sees this."
