Hello! I just got this idea for this song fic when I was listening to the song The Call by Regina Spektor. It's a really cool song from the movie The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, but for some reason when I heard the song, I thought of how Ed would feel when he leaves Amestris for the second time at the end of the FMA Movie. This is what I got!

No Need to Say Goodbye

Edward looked down at the remains of Central. Many buildings were crushed or burning after Eckhart's attack, but the city was still overall intact. It would be rebuilt, bigger and grander than ever, and Amestris would survive the attack. It would go on without him.

He sighed and grabbed the steering wheel of Eckhart's airship and turned it around to face the portal that would take him back to the other world. As it slowly moved, Ed thought of everything he would miss of Amestris, of his home. He would miss Al, Winry, Risembool, alchemy, automail, even sparring with Mustang. The world he was returning to was simply a pale imitation of his own home.

But as Ed looked down at Central once more, he began to feel something, a hope growing inside him. It took a moment for him to be able to put it into words, but then he knew exactly what the hope was. After a few seconds, Ed voiced the hope quietly, almost as if by saying it, it would come true.

"I'll come back when you call me. No need to say goodbye."

Ed smiled. The words were like a power source for him, and as he said them, he knew it was true. He would return to Amestris someday, eventually. This had happened to him before, after all, yet he had still returned. As long as he had friends, people he could trust, to help him on the way, he would make it back to Amestris. But for now, he had to follow what he thought was right and protect people from dying because of him. He would follow his beliefs and eventually, he was positive that he would return.

"I'll come back when you call me. No need to say goodbye."

Edward called out the words towards the ground this time, knowing that they were true. It might seem impossible, and people probably wouldn't understand or believe him if he explained, but he would make it back to Amestris. As long as he focused on that goal, never forgot the feeling, and believed in the hope, he would return. His memories and dreams would become reality, he was sure.

Edward reached the portal. He steered the ship so that it was about to enter, but then hesitated. He looked down and voiced his hope once more time.

"I'll come back when you call me. No need to say goodbye."

Then Ed took a deep breath and steered the ship through the portal. He would see them all again. He knew that he would be called back. He would return.

Yeah, I know it's a bit short, but the song is short too.
