I'm Here
Pairing: Dean/Cas
Disclaimer: I do, not, and will unfortunately never, own Supernatural.
Set in season five, so spoilers up to episode 22 to be safe.
Cas always watches Dean.
When he's sleeping, awake, drunk, or even dead, Cas is there. He will always be there. He only wishes Dean knew that.
"You-you know, Cas? You. Are. An. Angel. Did you know that?" Dean stammered, and downed another shot.
Cas sighed. He didn't like when Dean drank. It wasn't like it scared him or anything; it just meant Dean was upset about something. And lately, Dean was always upset about something.
He had a lot to be upset about. The world coming to an end, and Dean still thinking it was his fault for breaking the first seal. But it wasn't. If anything, it was Cas's.
HE was assigned to the Winchesters. HE was supposed to protect them. And to Cas, it felt like he was always failing.
"Yo, bartender? Can I-I get... Get anoth-ther?" Dean slurred all his r's and Cas knew it was time to go. Of course, Dean wouldn't go without a fight.
"Pfft, C-Cas. I haven't... Haven't had that many. I'm awesome and awesomeness requires alcohol. So do... So do you." Dean stirred.
"I do not require beverages, Dean. I also do not require sleep, but you do." And with that, Cas started to lift him from the stool. Dean wasn't exactly willing to go, but he wasn't fighting it either. Dean let Cas wrap his arm around his shoulder and drag him away from the crowded, chattering bar area, so he could zap them back to their dingy motel room.
Sam was there, on the computer, doing research of course, like a machine. Cas grimaced when the weight of Dean on him, and Sam looked up.
"What happened to him? Is he all right?" Sam quickly arose, worried.
"I. Am. Awesome. We should... Should tot-totally go get drunk more often, Cas. You're WAY WAY WAY more fun than Kill Joy over there." Dean whispered as his eyelids slowly drooped.
Sam sighed. Dean getting drunk was seemingly becoming the norm around here. And he did not like it one bit.
"I'm going to go get some coffee." Sam grumbled, slamming the motel door behind him.
Cas glanced at Dean's medium frame and slowly placed him on the bed. He was almost asleep now, and looked so peaceful, and so Cas lied on the other side of the bed, inching himself close to Dean.
"You-you don't have..." Dean started, before he finally did drift off into a deep sleep.
"It's okay." Cas soothed, "I'm here. Always." Then Cas placed a light kiss upon Dean's lips and smiled.
Little did he know Dean smiled back.
I know it's short, but I'm a new writer. Reviews would really help, thanks :)
