Baby Blue Firestarters
Their house was large. Even though his grandmother had been blasted from her family tree, after the death of her cousin the headship of the house past to her nephew, Draco. He in turn, after pressure from his mother, had restored his aunt to the tree and gave her her rightful inheritance. It was this money that she passed on to her own grandson, willingly admitting she had no use for it.
Teddy and Victoire found plenty of things to use it for. First was the around the world holiday, second were gifts for the family and the third large purchase was their home.
The two knew they would always have a large family, but Teddy was not expecting to be a father at twenty three.
"Teddy? What do you think?" Victoire asked him gently.
Teddy sat in a state of shock, unable to think. He dimly realised that this was great news, their plans were coming together but just a little bit sooner than expected.
A lot sooner in fact.
"Teddy?" Victoire grew impatient at his silence, and left the sofa she had been perched on. "Are you even listening to me? Teddy, I'm three months pregnant already! We haven't got time for you to sit, thinking." She turned into her mother, and grandmother, growing determined. "Let's see, we need to tell the family, arrange a visit with Healer Matthews, clear out one of the rooms, decorate it, then it needs to be . . ."
Teddy allowed himself to sink lower and lower into his own mind. Images of himself surrounded by children and children, so many that they spilled over themselves and were piling up. A rainbow of colours lighting up each of their heads, before their hands lit up with small balls of fire. Logically Teddy assumed that, like Victoire, their child would have Veela powers but they wouldn't be as strong.
So only little fires being set all over the house.
Teddy closed his eyes and thought of his own childhood, growing up near the Weasley-Delacour home. Bill could often be found carrying things out to be disposed of, things that were past being repaired, too burnt up.
Fire protection charms will need to be cast.
"Teddy! It's happening again!"
Too late the warning came. Although his training allowed Teddy to control his mother's gift, extreme emotions could cause his gift to manifest unexpectedly. Teddy opened his eyes to a wall of hair. His hair had lengthened, all the way to the floor it seemed, and had grown to be so thick he couldn't see the light.
He felt his wife rest next to him and clasped his hand.
"You do know we'll be okay, right? There's no dark lord to hide from, we have a home, jobs, money and a supporting family. We'll be okay." She squeezed his hand. "I'd just like to know what is going on behind all that blue hair." She smiled weakly, although Teddy couldn't see it behind his screen of hair.
"It's blue then?" he asked.
"Bright blue."
The hair starting thinning, shafts of light piercing it. Teddy felt the weight dropping away, physically and emotionally.
"We'll be alright," he said, squeezing her hand in return.
"Yes, we will. Teddy?"
"Yes?" He turned to her and noticed for the first time how her face seemed to glow, though that could have been the soft lighting from the lamps.
"Can you recreate that blue? I think it would be a nice shade for the baby's room."
"I don't know, I can try." He tried to remember what the blue had looked like, but as he had only seen it in glancing, before it reverted back to it's usual shade, he failed.
"I'm having twins," Victoire claimed suddenly.
Teddy felt a moments panic before his wife's voice cut through again. "Perfect Teddy! Just right."
Teddy held the style while she cut off part of the hair.
"I'm sure we can get paint in just this shade!"
First time writing this pairing, just something short and (hopefully) sweet.
