Spring. The season of rebirth and sprouting life. The season... of Earth.
Who needs to see? I can smell it. I can feel it. The best time of the year…
Toes curled against the dry, dirt ridden, grassy knolls. Each little toe flexed in a relishing fashion while arms stretched out in a capture of the soft, gusting winds. The wafting scent of fresh pollen and blooming flowers touched lightly to a small, admiring nose. "It's like…" a small voice whispered as her pale eyes shuttered open while letting the fresh air grace her smiling lips. "…It's like the whole earth just woke up from some long nap…" reasoning it out loud to herself, she shifted her bare feet against the cold earth below her.
Though her eyes couldn't see it, her body showed her a mapped out landscape. Creatures scampering about in the distant forest, small prairie beasts rolling in the knolls of grass, and the sway of fresh plants dancing to the new winds. She pondered a single thought for a second before letting out a low laugh and shrugging. "It can't hurt," she admitted to herself as her small hands dipped against the band holding her hair into a fixed ball.
In one slow motion, she unhooked it and let her hair roll down into a long, collective stretch against her back. The air quickly took her glossy, raven strands and tousled them in their dance. For that small moment, she indulged in a childish giggle. "Oh man. This is just awesome," she managed to say as she continued to revel in the fresh air and cool turf beneath her.
Her laugh continued as she toppled back and rested her back against the earth, letting her hair sprawl out against the blades of grass and stretching her arms and legs as wide as she could. "Forget the Solstices… It's the Spring Equinox that's got it going on." Toph announced to the cool air brushing across her body and feeling the warming earth beneath her sprawled body.
Each Equinox and Solstice I will add to this story. Enjoy.
