Songs of Love:
A fluffy TamaHaru songfic
By MeganTheNerd
A/N: Ummm, I don't own Ouran or Songs of Love.
Not much to say… BEN FOLDS IS A SEXY BEAST!!!!
That's it.
Oh! And bold italicsare lyrics.
Pale, pubescent beasts
Roam through the streets
And coffee shops
Their prey gather in herds of stiff kneeling skirts
And white ankle socks
But while they search for a mate
My type hibernate in bedrooms above
Composing their songs of love
Haruhi had always known that Tamaki was different from other boys. He opted to write songs instead of playing video games. Or he would play kick the can like a grade-schooler instead of trying to be popular (not that he had a problem with that). He never pretended, not even for a second. Tamaki was certainly the most genuine, yet puzzling, boy she had ever met.
Young, uniform minds
In uniform lines, in uniform ties
Run round with trousers on fire
And signs of desire
They cannot disguise
While I try to find words
As light as the birds
That circle above
To put in my songs of love
Tamaki was positive that he had finally sorted out his feelings towards his "daughter". The real question, however, was how to confess his love. Right away he knew he could scratch flat out telling her. He would probably end up either chickening out or passing out before he could utter a single word. Then it came to him. A song. Something simple, yet beautiful, just like Haruhi.
Surprisingly, for a man who wooed women daily with charmingly poetic words, he found the lyrics the hardest thing to write.
Fate doesn't hang on a wrong
Or right choice
Fortune depends on the tone
Of your voice
So sing
While you have time
Let the sun shine
Down from above
And fill you with songs of love
As fate would have it, Haruhi happened to walk into the third music room as he was rehearsing his finished song. It started out as a soft, happy, tune that grew more and more passionate with each passing measure. Tamaki's voice was soothing but grounded and realistic at the same time. The mixture of piano and vocals made the song into quite simply the most moving song the honor student had ever heard.
Fate doesn't hang on a wrong
Or right choice
Fortune depends on the tone
Of your voice
So sing while you still can
While the sung hangs
High up above
Wonderful songs of love
The last note died down after the prince ended the song. To his surprise, he heard clapping. Tamaki turned a deep red and was having trouble speaking in complete sentences as Haruhi sat next to him on the piano bench. She gave hime a small, reassuring simile.
"That was a beautiful song, senpai. Do you think you could teach me to play it?"
With those two sentences, all of the nervousness and embarrassment melted away. He remembered why he had fallen for her: the natural way she handled everything.
"Of course."
Beautiful songs of love
Beautiful songs
Of
Love
A/N: That one was kinda short but I think I'm more of a one shot writer than a 700 page epic poem writer.
(You know you're all jealous of my amazing Homer reference) XD
I love Ben Folds. A lot. Like almost in a stalkerish way. I know all his songs… BENNY!!!!
*Fangirl spasm*
Song in my head: Gee, I wonder. Give you a hint: I wrote a songfic for it.
