They hated him. Plain and simple. They absolutely hated him.
Severus Sanpe, new Headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardy knew the staff and students who had known Dumbledore hated him. He didn't mind the students so much, it was the staff. They were his friends,... his family. Now they hated him for killed Dumbledore, and he couldn't even tell them why he had done it.
He remembered watching his mentor's body go flying over the railing of the Astonamy Tower, the pain and sorrow he had felt as he struck down the man he had loved as a father. He rose and left the Great Hall.
"Wonder where he's going," Minerva McGonagall said.
Argus Filch, who had once supported Snape, now despised him as well for he had had great respect for Dumbledore, looked at her.
"Reckon somebody ought to follow him, ma'am?"
"Yes. You and I will, Argus."
They trailed the Potions Master to the Astronamy Tower, where he sank to his knees at the railing and broke down into heart wrenching sobs. The sight stunned the Transfigureation Professor and Grounds Keeper, for neighter had never known Severus to lose control.
Breakfast ended, and many students gathered out in the Entrance Courtyard, talking.
"So you think you have a right to cry?" Minerva demanded at last.
Severus rose and faced them.
"You murdered him!"
"No! He asked me to kill him!"
That silenced her, and Filch's eyes widened.
"He was already dying, and he made me make an Unbreakable Vow to him to kill him so Draco wouldn't have to, thus saving his soul, and since he asked me I wouldn't be comitting murder! It doesn't matter, though! You all hate me! I hate myself. Be free of me, then!"
He began stepping back.
"Severus, no!"
Minerva and Filch started towards him, but he ducked under the railing.
"Severus, please don't."
"It won't matter. He'll find out I told you and kill me himself. I can't take it anymore! I can't take this guilt!"
He stepped off, despite their attempts to grab him.
Below students screamed at the sight of their Headmaster falling. Several cast a Cushioning Charm, but it would do no good at the height he fell from.
He hit the ground with a sickening thud and lay still, his body broken. Severus Snape was no more, following his mentor into the Veil.
I know, I'm horrible.
