Harry Potter turned the Resurection Stone three times in his hand. When he looked up he found himself surrounded by James and Lily Potter, Sirius Black, and Remus Lupin. They were transparent and dulled.
"Wait. There's someone else who should be here."
He gripped the Stone, closing his eyes in concrentration. When he opened them again he saw that Lily's smile had widened, and she and James were looked at something behind him. He turned out to see the ghostly figure of Severus Snape.
"I'm sorry. I never wanted any of you to die for me."
"The choice was not yours to make, Harry," Severus said, using his name for the first time.
The young wizard looked at them all in turn.
"But,... Remus, your son."
Remus Lupin smiled sadly.
"Others will tell him what his parents died for, and one day he'll understand."
He then looked at Sirius.
"Does it hurt? Dying?"
His godfather shook his head.
"Quicker than falling asleep."
Harry looked at each of them once more.
"You'll stay with me? To the end?"
"Always," Lily and Severus said together.
He dropped the Stone and began walking towards where he could sense Voldemort, the spirits walking with him, visible only to him. Once the Dark Lord came into view, they left, though, surprisingly, Severus lingered for the longest amount of time.
After the battle, Harry revealed to everyone the truth about Snape and insisted they give him a proper funeral. He was rather surprised when nearly everyone agreed. Once he had been buried and the eulogy given, everyone headed back towards the castle to begin cleaning and repairing the school.
Harry paused and glanced back only to find himself looking at Severus Snape, who looked quite real and solid. He shook his head, blinked, and looked again. The potions master was still there, and to add to his shock, he smiled at his former student.
"Thank you, Harry."
He turned and began to walk away, disappearing as he did so. Harry smiled, knowing that his former teacher was at peace at last.
"You're welcome,... Severus."
Okay, a short one, but I hope you like it.
