Remembering a Friend
Chapter 1 Nick Stokes
Looking at myself in the mirror, I realize that I look terrible. I can't believe that I will not share a laugh, a bite or a bet with my best friend.
I remember what I was doing when the call came over the radio that an officer was down. I was still talking to that red head in the diner. When I heard the officer down call, I ran out from the dinner, dropping off the money for the tab. I ran toward the car and just stood there in shock.
My best friend lay on the asphalt dead. I walked back over to a small wall and just sat there. I was in shock. It had to be a dream that my best friend, the person who always had my back, was gone. I wanted to die but I know that would not solve anything.
I could hear Grissom tell Ecklie that he wanted my best friend's team to work this case. I wanted to work it not because he was my best friend, rather because I owed it to him.
I knew what had to be done but my mind could not let my hands do the work. I slowly-- no I forced myself to work. I head over to where Catherine is standing and just head to her car. I couldn't say anything, even if I wanted to my voice wouldn't let me say anything.
