Chapter One- A Dream
Okay, let's try this again.
I don't own Merlin.
The ground was burnt, broken and covered in blood. She was tired. So very tired. During the battle, she was living on adrenaline and magic. Her actions were justified, by the pain the other side caused. Until she stopped fighting, that is.
She had felt her connection with them, rip away as they died. No one was left. All gone. She ran her hand through her hair. It's usual orangey colour, had been stained a sicking red.
Where did she go wrong? Her heart was consumed with guilt. In the battlefield it was just kill, kill, kill. Guilt, guilt, guilt.
She walked over the destruction, shuddering every time she saw a dead body. No longer caring what side they had been on, she made her way towards the forest, closing people's eyes.
Finally, her hand rested against a tall half dead tree. She began to cry. She never wanted this. The last of Morganna's soldiers, sobbing her eyes out. Because, she never wanted this, all she wanted was peace.
After a timeless amount of crying, she pulled away from the tree and continued walking.
Suddenly she came upon another person. He was covered in cuts, burns and bruises, but seemed to be oblivious to them. Probably like herself. She could see in his stance and in the way his magic radiated. That there was only one person he could be.
"Emrys." She murmured softly.
He hadn't noticed her yet. Suddenly there was a tug inside her and her eyes began to change colour. Slowly her hand began to raise. 'No,' she screamed internally. 'Please no.'
Emrys was the most powerful warlock of all time but, if he didn't see her… Her fingers began to glow. "You can't escape your destiny." A voice from long ago whispered.
'I could have tried.' A pulse went through her body. She didn't have to look to know she'd hit her mark. Her magic wasn't all that strong but, it was accurate. Exhausted she collapsed. 'I wish I could try again, I wish I wasn't numb to death, I wish…' Then she blacked out.
Gail's eyes flicked open. Her curly ginger hair danced around her shoulders. It was nighttime, however the brightness of the moon gave her light. Grabbing a piece of charcoal and her sketch book, she quickly made some notes. She sighed, well that settled it then.
Sneaking out of her tent, she quickly darted into another. Going to the sleeping child, that lived there, she shook him until he woke. Mordred woke, bleary eyed and confused. "Gail? What are you…?"
"Do you trust me?"
"Um… yes, I think. Why?"
"Because we have to leave for Camelot, right now, just the two of us." The ten year old bit her lip nervously. "And you can't ask why."
There that's better than the last try! The second chapter won't show up until I finish, The Vorpal Blade, so… read that instead? I don't know, do whatever you want.
Review.
