Once upon a time in a little known village called Ballia, lived a beautiful young girl named Jade. She lived with her widower father in a small cottage on the far side of town. All her father and she had to their names is five dollars and a llama named Leelu.

"Jade, I need you to take Leelu to Mr. Bell. He should give you twenty dollars for her." Her father said.

"But Papa, Leelu is my friend and I don't want to sell her! Don't make me sell her." Jade wined.

"Jade, my dear, we need the money and you know that. So, go. Her father pleaded.

Jade walked Leelu down the cobble stone road.

"I don't want to sell you, Leelu!" Jade said to her llama.

"You don't have to my child." said a strange voice.

"Who are you, what do you want?" Jade yelled.

"All you have to do is climb my giant cornstalk and retrieve me the golden monkey. You can get something real nice to sell to save your beloved llama" Said the mysterious man stepping out of the woods.

"Why don't you do it?" Jade said suspiciously.

"Because you are younger and quicker, you can out run the giants." The man said

"What giants?" she asked.

"I will tell you on the way." The man said pulling Jades arm.

"Millie and Willy are human eating giants. But a young and quick girl like you won't get caught."

They walked about a mile into the woods, until they came to a cornfield in the middle of the woods. Right in the center there stood a giant cornstalk that reaching up into the sky. Jade could not believe it, how could she have not noticed it before?

"All you have to do is climb the cornstalk and then go to the last door on the left, grab the Golden Monkey and whatever you want for yourself. Beware the giants Millie and Willy." The strange man said

Jade tied Leelu to a near by tree and started to climb the cornstalk. She climbed and climbed. Up and up until she reached the top. To her surprise, there was a huge farmhouse. She walked up to the door and squeezed through a crack. When she got in, she saw a giant eating what looked like mush. He immediately saw her. Jade tried to run but he picked her up.

"What is your name and why are you here, little one?" said Willy the giant.

"MMMy name is Jade and I have come for the golden Monkey," Jade replied while shaking out of fear.

"Why do you need the golden monkey?" Willy said.

"To save my family from poverty," she said trying to sound as pathetic as possible.

"Alright, last door to your left. But, be careful of my sister Millie she eats things like you," Willy said while putting Jade down.

Jade tiptoed down the hall and squeezed through the bottom of the door and there it was the golden monkey, she picked it up and was about to leave when, a diamond incrusted gold necklace caught her eye; she picked it up and put it on. Then she was off, through the cracked door down the hall and was tiptoeing, until Millie smelled her and yelled

"Fe Fi Fo Fum I smell a human 'a coming!"

Then Jade ran as fast as she could go. She ran into the kitchen and that is when Millie saw her and ran after her. Jade was heading for the doggy door when she saw a stick of butter; she picked it up with all her might and ran outside. She ran to the giant cornstalk. Jade buttered the corn and slowly then slid down it. Millie did not know that Jade had buttered the corn and slipped and fell to her death. When Jade got to the ground, she handed the Golden Monkey to the man.

"Thank you very much! You are a very brave little girl," said the man as he walked away.

"You are very welcome." Jade replied

Jade took Leelu and set off for home. Jade walked into her home with the diamond necklace around her neck. They later sold it. So, Jade never had to sell Leelu, her father and her never ran out of money and they lived happily ever after.

The End
