"Maybe I really am just being a drama queen. Maybe I'm overreacting as usual. Maybe I should apologize... But there's nothing to apologize for." This thought momentarily stopped Maureen in her tracks before she continued on her angry way. She'd been stalking around the city for a good few hours, stewing over the past few day's events, and getting more upset by the minute. This was nothing new, especially after a fight with JoAnne, save for the fact that there honestly was no reason for Maureen to apologize. For once, she was innocent.

Normally, whenever she and JoAnne were at odds, Maureen was well aware of the fact that she was in the wrong. But she was far too stubborn and proud to ever admit that, no matter how much it worsened the situation. In this case though, she hadn't done a thing. In fact, she'd only tried to cheer JoAnne up, and it had seemed to be working. Until, of course, it earned her a slap across the face.

"Why the hell am I even upset? We aren't even dating anymore, no matter how much JoAnne would love to change that." It was true. Maureen was done. No more of JoAnne's insecurities. No more of her problems with her family. If JoAnne's mom didn't like those Doc Martens, it wasn't Maureen's problem. She had her own mother to deal with. And no longer would JoAnne come home bitching about an innocent Maureen who was just unlucky enough to be in the way while JoAnne was upset. "Sometimes, being a selfish bitch is really the only thing you can do to take care of yourself," she thought. And that's just what she'd done.

Finally, instead of getting criticised and broken up with for all her own faults, Maureen had dumped JoAnne. Her bitchy side gave itself a pat on the back for that. "And the look on her face when she found out where I moved to," she smirked, remembering JoAnne's realization that Maureen was now living comfortably in Penthouse A. "Talk about an upgrade."

In all this time, Maureen had been so caught up in her own thoughts that she hadn't even realized where her feet had taken her. She was walking into the building where JoAnne and she had once lived together, and where she now shared a penthouse with her new girlfriend. But she wasn't heading towards Penthouse A. Instead, she was going to JoAnne's own apartment. Unsure of what she'd do whe she finally confronted her ex-girlfriend, Maureen hesitated before pushing the elevator button for JoAnne's floor.
