Iridescent bubbles of various sizes floated through the air, bumbling around aimlessly until they met their doom.
Two girls stood in the rough green grass of their backyard. One was holding a green bubble wand and its container. She smiled and giggled as she watched her chubby little sister squeal and stumble around in delight, trying to catch the bubbles in her hands.
It was a normal morning, with the air crisp and clean with a slight hint of damp. Their mother was on the balcony, chatting with Ms Sakine, their neighbor.
But, of course, children always find a way to ruin the stillness.
"Mayu! Mayu!" The little girl stopped in front of her older sister, her eyes bright as she stretched her hands up.
"What," Mayu smiled down at her sister. "Rin?"
"Bubble."
Almost instantly, the friendly smile on Mayu's face vanished. She clutched her bubbles tighter, lifting them higher so Rin couldn't reach them.
"No." she said, her eyes sharp.
Rin's face twisted and she stomped down as hard as she could on Mayu's foot. "BUBBLE!" she screamed.
"NO!" Mayu screeched back with just as much power. Then, without a second thought, she tipped the container onto Rin's head.
Rin started to cry. Her wails echoed around the neighborhood.
"Mayu!" Their mother rushed over to the two girls, kneeling down to hug a sobbing Rin. "I'm very sorry, Meiko, but I have to take care of Rin, and make sure she didn't get any bubble solution in her eyes."
"Ah, that's fine! We can always talk later, right?" Ms. Sakine said good-naturedly, crossing her arms over her chest.
About an hour later, Rin was bathed and tucked away for her nap, and Mayu was condemned to the time-out chair.
Mommy is so mean! She fumed silently. And Rin is dumb! I don't like her!
The little girl ended up falling asleep in the time-out chair, and when she woke up, it was lunchtime and she had forgotten that she was mad at her mother and Rin, typical of a small child.
She and Rin played with their(Mayu's) dollhouse after lunch. Except, Rin wasn't cooperating(in Mayu's eyes). She kept knocking things over and taking Mayu's dolls.
"Give me!" Mayu said. Rin had taken her favorite doll and refused to give it back.
"Mine." Rin said stubbornly, holding it close to her chest.
"Mine!" Mayu's voice rose. "That's mine! Give me!"
"No!" Rin yelled back, and Mayu's hand shot out to yank at Rin's short blonde locks. Rin dropped the doll and started to cry, and her older sister picked up the doll smugly. But her triumph didn't last long, as their mother rushed into the room a few minutes later.
And, the cycle repeats.
A/N: This is a resurrection of a drabble set (kind of unsure on if I should continue it or leave it) that I deleted earlier in the year. If I do decide to continue it, Len'll probably appear sooner or later. By the way, Mayu's yandere personality will be toned down, heheh.
If you think I can improve somewhere, please tell me!
See you all later!
