TELL ME AGAIN, GRAMMA
All the usual disclaimers apply here…I do not own the Stargate Characters and this work of fiction is purely for the entertainment of those who read it.
Tell me again Gramma, about the time you and Granpa met and what it was like living on the farm. Please.
Alright sweetie, but then we have to go. You know there are others waiting for us.
"It was a very long time ago and we were both so young." She started to tell the story to her grandson for about the twentieth time. He sat down next to her and she put an arm around him.
I was on my way to Minneapolis to start a new job. My family all saw me off from the front porch of our house.
I was late and almost didn't make the train. My brother's car was not the most reliable way to get to the train station. Anyway, we got there just a few minutes before the train left. I gave him a big hug and ran to make the train.
When I got inside the train car there was only one seat left. There was this really great looking guy sitting in the seat next to me. We started talking almost right away.
It was a long trip to Minneapolis, but the time went by so fast. It usually does when you're enjoying yourself. We both talked about ourselves and our families. He was going back to his family's farm for a couple of weeks, there was a war on and like so many young men, he was going into the military.
We got on so well that we decided to spend some time together in Minneapolis before he went out the farm.
We spent a lot of time together that week. And the next week I went with him out to the farm. His mom and dad were so nice to me that I felt like I was home.
Sam had two weeks more before he had to report to the Army base and we spent a lot of that time together. We had picnics under an old tree where he had a tree house as a child. We helped his dad with farm chores. I was so happy.
Then, the day came when he asked me to marry him. He was leaving in a few days and we decided that we would wait until he got back.
We wrote to each other all through the war and when he got back we had the wedding on his parents farm. All the neighbors came, it was a wonderful party.
As time passed your aunt and uncles and your dad were born. We stayed on the farm and had a pretty good life.
When your dad was in college he told us that he was going into the Air Force. Your grandfather was so proud of him I thought he was going to burst. He kept telling the fellows down at the general store about "my boy the flyer". There was a time though that we had a piece of worry about him. His plane was shot down, but he managed to get out of the way of the enemy and come home safe.
Then he met your mom. Just like your grampa and I they fell in love quickly and before we knew it they were married. In time you came along and everyone loved you.
Your dad stayed in the Air Force and moved up. And then the accident happened, and everybody was very sad for a very long time, especially your dad.
I had to leave too, which made my Sam very sad.
Just then there was a voice calling……"Jack, Charlie, its time you came along now."
Come along Charlie, the rest of the angels are waiting for us.
Ok, Gramma, but will my dad and grampa be OK?
Yes, dear, we will watch over them from the clouds.
He put his small hand into her larger one and they walked towards a large puffy cloud……..
