Pairings: pick your favorite (I had one in mind, but any will do)

Warnings: angst, POV, poetry

Spoilers: nope

Disclaimers: Don't 'em, never will. * sigh *

Feedback: Yes!Yes!Yes! and might I add Yes!

Notes: This is a poem that kind of sprang from nowhere one night, and kind of evolved. It's set up so that the repeating line is not necessary, except for the first and last times, but the line does add something to the poem. The lines between the two repeating lines go together on occasion, but it's never really confusing. Wow, that's one long explanation for a poem. Well, hope you enjoy.

Through My Fingers

I let you slip through my fingers

Something too precious to lose

I let you slip through my fingers

Why did you make me choose?

I let you slip through my fingers

Your love or the door

I let you slip through my fingers

A home or the war

I let you slip through my fingers

Your joyous laugh

I let you slip through my fingers

Or a blood bath

I let you slip through my fingers

I chose the wrong way

I let you slip through my fingers

How I rue that day

I let you slip through my fingers

I decided on blood

I let you slip through my fingers

Instead of our love

I let you slip through my fingers

I now pay the price

I let you slip through my fingers

Of my foolish choice

I let you slip through my fingers

The war is done

I let you slip through my fingers

The battle won

I let you slip through my fingers

The soldier is dead

I let you slip through my fingers

No more bathed in red

I let you slip through my fingers

I am alone

I let you slip through my fingers

Can I atone?

I let you slip through my fingers

Will you forgive?

I let you slip through my fingers

Will you let me live?

I let you slip through my fingers

I've come crawling back

I let you slip through my fingers

You're all that I lack

I let you slip through my fingers

I seek forgiveness I don't deserve

I let you slip through my fingers

Forever yours to hold in reserve

I let you slip through my fingers

Now I am in your arms

I let you slip through my fingers

Subject to all your charms

Once I let you slip through my fingers…

Now never again.

AN: Like I said at the top, really any pairing will work with this, though one of them really has to be a soldier, but I did have one in mind. I don't want to say which one, but can you guess? Anyhoo, tell me what ya think? I'd really like to know.
