A Moment of Completeness
It's quiet in the room. That intense kind of silence when you know something is going to happen, and you're so nervous because you are so close to it but it could so easily slip by. You can hear everything so clearly, the other persons breath as it ghosts across your lips, even the sound of them swallowing, letting you know that they are as tense and nervous as you are.
As you place a tentative hand on a thigh, fingers pressing so lightly, just enough to let them feel it, you are convinced you can hear the beating of their heart speed up but realise it is the thudding of your own.
Still lips so close, you lick yours seeing the other's eyes narrow slightly as they stare. You do it again and so hesitantly, you move closer, just a bit and they do too but still you are too nervous, too tense.
This is all or nothing, not some cheap moment, not some pass in the night encounter. This is the moment that could change your life. The moment that could make it all worth it.
About to bridge that final few millimetres, you pull back looking down as fingers undo the buttons on your shirt. Looking up you see the concentration on the other's face, the caught bottom lip and as he looks up at you, with the answer to every question you have ever had in those warm nervous eyes, you finally lean forwards once more and your lips touch.
A touching of skin then back, breath once more caressing your mouth and you lean in again. Quick slight presses. Both open mouthed, touching a bottom lip, the top. Still you hear everything in the intense silence. The cotton of his shirt catching against yours, a hand passing over the denim on your thigh. The shifting of his body is so loud as he closes those lips, you have watched for so long, over your bottom lip.
A hand in your hair holding you still as if he is afraid you will bolt. You think to laugh and tell him you have been running all your life and this is the first time you are still but, nothing will make you stop him from kissing you so tenderly.
He looks at you one last time and you're still unable to move, so terrified that this will not happen. He smiles having seen something in your face or your eyes that you can never know and he shifts pushing you back, down onto the bed and grins at you as you in turn bite your bottom lip.
The sound of fabric rubbing against fabric as he covers you, moves on you, as your hands rise up to hold his sides as he settles on you. Then he is kissing you and, over all these sounds of movement, fabric and kissing, lips pulling off, nipping and meeting once more, you hear a sigh so deep, so profound, and know that it is your own.
The loudest sound in a room now filled with little sounds is of a moment of completeness, when you know that this is right, that this is the moment that is changing your life forever.
