The warm liquid spilt over his hands as the brunette woman convulsed in his arms, her once emerald eyes slowly dulling and clearly showing her pain as blood poured from her mouth, her smile forever lost. He let out a soft wail as her movements suddenly stopped and she fell limp. He knew instantly that she was dead.
Cloud sat bolt upright in his bed, pushing his sweat-damped hair from his face. Every night, he had the same dream, reliving the nightmare of Aerith's death. He thought he would at least be able to handle it now but all he found, was that it became worse each time he witnessed it. When he would awaken, there was always a dull ache in his chest, a pain right in his heart.
The blonde gave a heavy sigh, knowing that he would never be able to get sleep now so instead, he clambered out of his bed and made his way to the shower. His house was cold and a tip but he didn't really care. It wasn't as if anybody was sharing it with him or that he was expecting anyone that he would care about seeing the mess.
If he was being honest about his feelings, he would have admitted that Aerith had released feelings he never thought he would feel, she had opened up his heart and made him realise what true happiness was. Now that she was gone, he didn't have anyone or anything left to go on for. There was nothing to protect, no one to live a happy life with. Now that she was gone, all he felt was sadness eating away at him. Without her, unhappiness was the only emotion known to him.
