Future of Mine
I do not own CSI: Miami
It was a normal Sunday in Miami, Florida, sunny and warm. The Delko House was loud and full of laughter.
Eric Delko, provider and owner of the house, sat tickling his six year old daughter, Sasha.
"Think you can get me, I got you."
"Daddy, stop please." Her words couldn't escape the laughter in her voice.
"Alright, go on, get out of here." He let her go and she stood up, looking at him with a smile. "Come here, I won't tickle you." He pulled her into his lap and held her. "You aren't my only big girl anymore are you?"
"No, Belle is a big girl now too, since Mommy's having the baby." Her smile showed through her blue eyes as she pushed her dark hair back. "What's my brother's name?"
"We don't know if it's a brother or sister."
"I know it's a brother." She smiled and looked at her father.
Sasha Marisol Delko was the oldest of four children, at six she was the big helper. Her sister, Isabel Ekaterina Delko joined her at age four and her brother, Eric Delko Jr. was just under two years old.
"How do you know?"
"I just know, can we go see Mommy now?" She missed her mother as did her siblings. "Please?"
"Okay, got get your shoes on." He put her down and she left, he smiled and looked at his beautiful girl leave the room.
The ride to the hospital was fun for the kids, no electronics except for Eric's cell phone was allowed in the cars. They sang songs or played games, never dull or boring and defiantly never quiet.
Once they arrived, Eric held EJ with one arm and held Isabel's hand with the other. Everyone was quiet upon entering the hospital. Getting to the nurse's station, Sasha smiled.
"Calleigh Delko's room?" She smiled and Eric chuckled looking at the nurse.
"Calleigh Duquesne?" He looked at the nurse and she pointed down the hall.
"Down the hall, last door on the left, be quiet." He nodded and pushed his daughters toward the door.
"Mommy still uses her last name, not my name."
"Oh, why?"
"Just because she wants to, I can't force her so I think of it as the only thing she has that isn't ours…it's just hers."
"Like my dolls are my dolls?"
"Exactly, now the nurse said to be quiet. We're gonna see if you have a brother or sister."
Calleigh Duquesne ended up with colleague and lover, Eric Delko and their marriage was going on seven years. With their fourth child delivered, Eric left to take care of the kids knowing she'd be fine.
They entered the room to see Calleigh speaking with Horatio Caine, boss and friend.
"I'll leave you to your family." He smiled and she nodded.
"Thanks for stopping by again, it's the fourth time, wonder if there will be a fifth."
Horatio smiled and looked at her, "I'm sure there will be in the future."
Calleigh smiled when her girls ran to her bed and Eric placed their son on the bed. He kissed her, "hey handsome." She pulled his face down, "come here."
"Keep this up; we'll have number five in a few months." He chuckled and looked at her, "they want to know the verdict."
"I know it's a brother, I'm right aren't I?" Sasha looked at her mother and Calleigh smiled.
"You are…a sister to Anya Esperanza Delko. She was born just this morning and is looking forward to meeting her sisters and her brother."
"So I have another sister?"
"You do Isabel; they'll be bringing her by soon."
Sasha folded her arms and looked at her mother. "Why'd I have to get a sister, I didn't want another sister?"
Calleigh and Eric smiled, looking at each other, they had the perfect future. They were married, in love with each other still after so many years and they had beautiful yet stubborn kids.
