If you're reading this, I'm thankful I didn't die too horribly. If you're a member of the Board, then dammit, you won. If you are any other person on the planet, I can rest easy knowing that I succeeded in bringing those buggers to justice. If the latter case is true, and you don't know what I am talking about, let me enlighten you. They ruled the world twice, uncontested, for six days and forty-seven minutes. Total. Where you were in that time that you didn't know that, I have no idea. The Board controlled the world for six days before anyone did anything! Six days of total dictatorship! If you…

Wait. If you really don't know, if you are some creature that came from space and is attempting to learn our planet's history, I should start at the beginning. Not the very beginning, mind you, that would take volumes to write. A lot happened in my life before those six days. 63 years happened. 63 years of school, of training, of wandering lost through the wilderness, of teaching, and of sitting in my easy chair before the fire, in that order. There is not much of it I regret; no lost careers, no forgotten loves, nothing personal that I would wish to have gone differently. Only one event, in my fifth decade of life, do I wish never happened. The red-haired boy with the smirk, coming into my classroom, wanting to learn how to battle. I didn't know it then, but he was to be the undoing of my happy life.
