This is my first story tell me what you think. More chapters to come

It was 5 in the morning the sound of the alarm clock echoed throughout the room making Denise stir under the covers. She had only had a few hours of sleep but in order to get her RN degree she would have to start doing 12 hour shifts at the hospital. It was still dark outside making it harder to get out of bed. She slowly got out of bed rubbing her already groggy eyes. She got into the shower and let the cold water try to waken her and give her energy for the much anticipated day.

"Denise what are you doing here so early?" her friend Kelli asked Kelli had the graveyard shift at the hospital

"Just trying to get practical hours in" Denise retorted

"Well you are in for a real treat today" Kelli said as she tried to hold in a laugh

"Oh no and why do I feel like I am about to walk the plank?"

Kelli put her arm around Denise "Let's just say we have some Newbie's coming in today."

Denise sighed dealing with new trainees was always stressful. "Ok thanks for giving me the heads up."

"No problem I'm off, have a good day."

"Thanks I'll try." Denise said while pouring herself a cup of coffee. The coffee was just the wakeup call that she needed.

"All right everyone this way." The head RN bellowed as she pointed to Denise.

"This is Denise she almost has her RN degree if you have any questions you can ask her."

Denise smiled as she welcomed everyone.

5 coffees later Denise was almost finished with her 12 hour shift and numbness was beginning to set in.

One of the older nurses came around the corner "Denise we have a young solider could you please attended to him."

"Sure where is he?"

"He is in room 212"

As Denise entered the room she was greeted by a very handsome young man with a stunning smile and deep blue yes.

"Evening solider my name is Denise and I will be examining you." Denise said politely

"Hey yourself" the young solider said smiling back at her.

"So what's your name" Denise always had a way of calming the patients.

"Frank Sherwood"

"Lets take a look here, a broken leg and arm and some broken ribs can I just ask what on earth were you doing?"

Frank chuckled "Jumped off a radio tower without my chute." Denise was stunned, these paratroopers always amazed her.

"That would explain all the injuries, What on earth would make you jump without your chute?"

Frank smiled and laughed "It was a bet and I won."

"Well we are going to give you an IV and some medicine to control the pain." Denise stepped closer examining franks leg and his arm. As her hands touched his arm the warmth of her touch made Franks breath catch in his chest. He liked the feeling of her touching him suddenly being the hospital was not such a bad thing after all.
